Heart motion simulator for motion compensation

2011 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2011
A robotic heart motion simulator (HMS) is developed at DLR (German Aerospace Center) to accurately simulate real translational motions of a mechanically stabilized beating heart in a lab environment. This simulator is part of the DLR scenario for motion compensation on the beating heart.

Wrist joint motion simulator

Journal of Orthopaedic Research, 1996
AbstractA computer controlled wrist joint motion simulator has been developed that actively moves forearms from cadavers through cyclic planar flexion‐extension motions, planar radial‐ulnar deviation motions, and combined motions such as circumduction. Hybrid position‐force feedback control algorithms are used to determine the wrist flexor and extensor

Offline motion simulation framework: Optimizing motion simulator trajectories and parameters

Transportation Research Part F: Traffic Psychology and Behaviour, 2019
This paper presents a method to simultaneously compute optimal simulator motions and simulator parameters for a predefined set of vehicle motions. The optimization can be performed with a model of human motion perception or sensory dynamics taken into account.

Simulating self-motion

Brain Research Bulletin, 1996
In general, vehicle motions far exceed the mechanical constraints of an earth-fixed simulator base. Inertial motions can, therefore, only be simulated in partial agreement with those of the actual vehicle. As a consequence, physical mismatches between inertial and environmental motion are inevitable. Here, the concept of a subjective reference frame is

Optimal motion cueing for 5-DOF motion simulations via a 3-DOF motion simulator

Control Engineering Practice, 2009
This study presents a novel motion-cueing strategy, which is applied to a motion simulator with three rotational degrees of freedom (DOF) to perform the roll, pitch, yaw, surge, and sway motions by using an online optimization algorithm. The weighting functions are adaptively tuned in each step, and the optimal Euler angles are obtained analytically ...

Simulating biological and non-biological motion

Brain and Cognition, 2008
It is widely accepted that the brain processes biological and non-biological movements in distinct neural circuits. Biological motion, in contrast to non-biological motion, refers to active movements of living beings. Aim of our experiment was to investigate the mechanisms underlying mental simulation of these two movement types. Subjects had to either

MPI Motion Simulator: Development and Analysis of a Novel Motion Simulator

AIAA Modeling and Simulation Technologies Conference and Exhibit, 2007
This paper discusses the technical issues that were required to adapt a KUKA Robocoaster for use as a real-time motion simulator. Within this context, the paper addresses the physical modifications and the software control structure that were needed to have a flexible and safe experimental setup.

Evaluation of a Motion Simulator Not Requiring Cockpit Motion

Human Factors: The Journal of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, 1969
A new type of system for simulating motion cues employs a seat made up of six differentially inflatable sections. This device was evaluated with a sample of eight pilots in a cockpit mock-up. Seat motion significantly increased rated realism for a series of six maneuvers.
