Visual Motion Aftereffect Induced by Simulated Rectilinear Motion

Perception, 1977
Visual motion aftereffect characteristics comparable to those associated with rotary and translatory movement of a test field are demonstrated for simulated rectilinear motion of the observer. The intensity and time duration of the phenomenon are shown to be positively correlated. The implications of this for individual observers are considered.

DMS-Dynamic motion simulator

Advances in Engineering Software (1978), 1987
Abstract DMS is a graphics program that displays the output of multibody systems programs like DYNACOMBS 1 . The menu driven program supports a full range of display options to aid the user in the visualization of his or her output. A small CORE compatible graphics package is included to produce graphical output on Tektronic 4010 terminals or ...

Simulator Motion Base Sizing Using Simulation

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1994
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has proposed building the National Advanced Driving Simulator (NADS). As proposed, the NADS will move the simulator's cab so that realistic motion cues are provided to the simulator's driver.

Simulating Reactive Motions for Motion Capture Animation

2006
In this paper, we propose a new method for simulating reactive motions for motion capture animation. The goal is to generate realistic behaviors under unexpected external forces. A set of techniques are introduced to select a motion capture sequence which follows an impact, and then synthesize a believable transition to this found clip for character ...

Motion Perception Thresholds in Flight Simulation

AIAA Modeling and Simulation Technologies Conference and Exhibit, 2006
Pilot perception models include detailed descriptions of the sensory dynamics involved in human spatial orientation. For example, the TNO Spatial Orientation model contains transfer functions of the visual and vestibular system (semicircular canals and otoliths).

Coordinated adaptive washout for motion simulators

Visual and Motion Simulation Conference, 1973
This paper introduces a new method of providing motion cues to a moving base six-degree-of-freedom flight simulator utilizing nonlinear filters. Coordinated adaptive filters, used to coordinate translational and rotational motion, are derived based on the method of continuous steepest descent, and the basic concept of the digital controllers used for ...

Simulation of Polymer Motion

Annual Review of Physical Chemistry, 1984
Presented here is a review of computer simulations for the dynamics of polymeric systems. Even restricting the review to the more recent results, the subject is so large that some omissions are necessary. The review is concerned with the present theoretical understanding of irreversible processes in polymeric systems.

Simulating Protein Motions with Rigidity Analysis

Journal of Computational Biology, 2006
Protein motions, ranging from molecular flexibility to large-scale conformational change, play an essential role in many biochemical processes. Despite the explosion in our knowledge of structural and functional data, our understanding of protein movement is still very limited. In previous work, we developed and validated a motion planning based method

Stochastic Ground Motion Simulation

2014
Strong earthquake ground motion records are fundamental in engineering applications. Ground motion time series are used in ▶ response-history dynamic analysis of structural or geotechnical systems. In such analysis, the validity of predicted responses depends on the validity of the input excitations.
