Bequest motives and fertility decisions
Economics Letters, 2006Abstract We compare altruistic and strategic bequest motives and examine which one induces the higher demand for children. Although parents with strategic bequests have the stronger demand for filial attention, they choose to have fewer children than those with altruistic bequests.
