Motivation and the academic – where the drivers sit [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Management Development, 2016
Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to investigate the key drivers for motivation within a small team of academics within a relatively small UK university. Design/methodology/approach – The research follows a combined interpretivist and ethnographic stance and ...

Semantic Modeling in Materials Science and Engineering With Platform MaterialDigital Core Ontology 3.0

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The community‐driven Platform MaterialDigital Core Ontology (PMDco) 3.0 is introduced as a Basic Formal Ontology‐aligned semantic backbone for the processing–structure–properties paradigm in Materials Science and Engineering. Modular engineering, automated releases, and validation workflows are highlighted and key semantic patterns for materials ...

From Photoalignment to Structured Light: Liquid Crystal Platforms for Beam Shaping and Complex Wavefronts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Photoaligned and photopatterned liquid crystal platforms provide programmable control of optical phase, polarization, and spin‐orbit interactions, enabling compact generation of structured light and complex wavefronts. This review highlights how tailored molecular orientations transform simple beams into designed optical fields, opening versatile ...

Sustainability and Immateriality - Motivations of users/consumers as drivers of sustainability

open access: yesStrategic Design Research Journal, 2020
At present, it is necessary to analyse how users/consumers perceive sustainability, in order to determine the characteristics, aspects, attributes, etc. that, according to their criteria, must have sustainable products, services and product-service systems (hereinafter SPS).

Impact of Disorder on Microscopic Superconducting and Normal‐State Responses in a Kagome Metal

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Using depth‐resolved, field‐ and pressure‐dependent μSR$\umu{\rm SR}$ measurements, we show that disorder in Ta‐doped KV3Sb5 drives a crossover from nodal to nodeless superconductivity while strongly modifying the normal‐state magnetic response. Our results reveal that disorder affects superconductivity and magnetism in fundamentally different ways ...

Drivers for knowledge sharing: propositions for the role of motivational differences

open access: yesInternational Journal of Strategic Change Management, 2009
Knowledge governance aims at managing knowledge processes in and across organisations. The majority of the literature is concerned with determining and evaluating the appropriate structures and mechanisms, yet very little research effort has looked into the psychological predispositions of willingness to share knowledge. This conceptual paper takes its

Chemically Fueled Systems Chemistry Across Length Scales

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Chemically fueled reaction cycles regulate processes through single and multiple catalytic sites on the molecular and assembly scale. This gives rise to unique kinetically controlled properties/functions like spatio‐temporal catalysis, oscillations, optical properties, and perform work.

The polychotomy of NFT ownership: Motivational heterogeneity and underlying drivers

open access: yesDigital Business
We investigate the motivations behind non-fungible token (NFT) ownership. Utilizing survey data from NFT owners, we identify four distinct groups based on their primary motivations: (1) Utilizers, who emphasize functional uses; (2) Socializers, motivated

Energetic Offset in Organic Solar Cells‐ Importance, Confusion and Outlook

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Energetic offsets in organic solar cells (OSCs) remain a subject of debate due to measurement‐ and lab‐dependent discrepancies. This Perspective clarifies the physical origins of these variations and identifies temperature‐dependent electro‐optical methods as a reliable approach to obtain consistent offset values.
