Connections of the Mesencephalic Locomotor Region (MLR) in the Cat [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
The cat entopeduncular nucleus (EN), which is the main output of the basal ganglia, is known to project to the mesencephalic tegmentum. We have been able to elicit antidromic responses in single EN neurons from the region of the mesencephalic locomotor ...

Polymer‐Incorporated Mechanically Compliant Carbon Nanotube Microelectrode Arrays for Multichannel Neural Signal Recording

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a soft microelectrode array based on vertically aligned carbon nanotube (CNT) forests, combining high conductivity with mechanical softness. A densification process and air‐pressure‐assisted flexibilization improve structural integrity, ensuring stable insertion and reduced inflammation.

Cortical neuroprosthesis-mediated functional ipsilateral control of locomotion in rats with spinal cord hemisection

open access: yeseLife
Control of voluntary limb movement is predominantly attributed to the contralateral motor cortex. However, increasing evidence suggests the involvement of ipsilateral cortical networks in this process, especially in motor tasks requiring bilateral ...

The Hierarchical Structure of Sheep Wool and Its Impact on Physical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sheep wool, a prevalent α‐keratinous fiber, is an essential model for studying protein‐based fibers. Its genetic diversity across breeds enables the establishment of multiscale structure‐property relationships, uncovering previously elusive insights into wool's hierarchical structure.

3D Bioinspired Hair‐Based Solar Evaporator for Efficient Water Harvesting

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bio‐derived solar evaporator inspired by blackbody radiation is developed using human hair waste. The vertically aligned hair structure enables broadband light absorption, efficient thermal localization, and rapid water transport, achieving high evaporation rates and stable desalination performance.
