Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

TECHNICAL DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM FOR ELECTRIC MOTOR TESTS

open access: yesPOWER ENGINEERING: economics, technique, ecology, 2020
Diagnosing the condition of electrical equipment during its manufacture, repair and preventive inspections is an integral part of the technological process. Devices for diagnostics are required by enterprises of the industrial and energy complex, railway and sea transport, mining, concentrating and pulp and paper mills, repair plants, etc.In serial and

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The use of discography in the diagnosis of lesions in the thoracic spine hernia

open access: yesUkrainian Neurosurgical Journal, 2009
In order to improve the diagnosis of thoracic intervertebral discs’ hernia, the results of 20 patients, surgically treated from 1999 to 2009 years have been analyzed. For diagnostics discography was used.

Global vs local energy dissipation: the energy cycle of the turbulent von K\'arm\'an flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we investigate the relations between global and local energy transfers in a turbulent von K\'arm\'an flow. The goal is to understand how and where energy is dissipated in such a flow and to reconstruct the energy cycle in an experimental ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Detection of high k turbulence using two dimensional phase contrast imaging on LHD [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
High k turbulence, up to 30 cm(-1), can be measured using the two dimensional CO₂ laser phase contrast imaging system on LHD. Recent hardware improvements and experimental results are presented.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

ELECTRIC MOTOR DIAGNOSTICS OF SWITCHES BASED ON THE NEURAL NETWORK DATA MODELING THE SPECTRAL DECOMPOSITION OF THE CURRENTS

open access: yesNauka ta progres transportu, 2009
The method of automated diagnostics of electric motors is offered. It uses a neural network revealing the electric motor faults on the basis of analysis of frequency spectrum of current flowing through the motor.
