It follows that specification of the insulation is an important aspect of this technology.

This chapter provides a brief discussion on variable speed motors and drives for the tandem cold rolling process. The basic characteristics of the cage rotor induction motor and the synchronous motor are presented, along with the voltage converter as a viable modern drive for these machines. Cycloconverters are also addressed as a less preferred drive.
