Insulation co-ordination for drives and motors

Power Engineering Journal, 1999
Insulation is a key technology in electrical equipment. It influences how high a temperature and how small an envelope the equipment may be designed for, whether it is the solid state drive or the rotating machine. It follows that specification of the insulation is an important aspect of this technology.

Main Drives and Motors

2010
This chapter provides a brief discussion on variable speed motors and drives for the tandem cold rolling process. The basic characteristics of the cage rotor induction motor and the synchronous motor are presented, along with the voltage converter as a viable modern drive for these machines. Cycloconverters are also addressed as a less preferred drive.

Driving a DC Motor

2010
It is now time to move onto controlling a DC motor. If you ever plan on building a robot or any device that requires the use of a motor, then the skills you are about to learn will be essential. Driving a motor requires currents higher than the Arduino can safely provide from its outputs, so we will need to make use of transistors and diodes to ensure ...
