Powder alignment system for anisotropic bonded NdFeB Halbach cylinders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
A Halbach cylinder, fabricated from pre-magnetized sintered NdFeB magnet segments, is proposed for the powder aligning system during the compression or injection moulding of anisotropic bonded Halbach oriented NdFeB ring magnets. The influence of leading

Combined Process‐ and Phase‐Field‐Simulation to Predict the Microstructure of Single‐Crystal Ni‐Based Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined finite element and phase‐field approach predicts the evolution of microstructure during the directional solidification of Ni‐based superalloys. The model reveals how withdrawal rate, temperature gradient, and wall thickness control the dendrite spacing, highlighting the strong effect of surface regions in thin sections where dendrite growth ...

Comparison between the microstructures of M2 steel cast by the water-cooled copper mould and the sand mould

open access: yes工程科学学报, 2016
M2 steel was melted by a 25 kg high-frequency vacuum induction furnace and was cast to ingots with a cross section of 100 mm×50 mm by the water-cooled copper mould and the sand mould. The effects of cooling rate on the ingot's secondary dendrite arm ...

Vacuum moulding of a superplastic [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The objective of this research is to develop a model for simulating the super-plastic forming process and for predicting the thickness distribution as well the minimum radius of curvature when the material has to fill a sharp corner.

Al–Cu Composite Casting of Laser‐Deoxidized Copper: Bonding, Interfacial Chemistry, and Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser‐based oxide removal of Cu inserts in oxygen‐free conditions and examines long‐term oxidation kinetics and surface chemistry under different atmospheres via X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Al–Cu compound casting with differently oxidized surfaces is performed, and intermetallic phase formation, morphology, and thermal ...

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.
