On the affine structure of perceptual space

open access: yes, 2001
Affine geometry is a generalization of Euclidean geometry in which distance can be scaled along parallel directions, though relative distances in different directions men be incommensurable. This article presents a new procedure for testing the intrinsic

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Labeling and moving adjunction structures

open access: yesThe Linguistic Association of Korea Journal, 2019
Chomsky’s (2013) labeling algorithm fails to label adjunction structures, resulting in the Full Interpretation problem. This paper shows that the algorithm faces another problem in ‘moving’ adjunction structures, based on the data from adverb-adjunction and scrambling.

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Move-r: Optimizing the r-index [PDF]

open access: yes
We present a static text index called Move-r, which is a highly optimized version of the r-index ([Travis Gagie et al., 2020] Gagie et al., 2020) that encorporates recent theoretical developments of the move data structure ([Takaaki Nishimoto and Yasuo ...

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Correlation Structure of International Equity Markets During Extremely Volatile Periods [PDF]

open access: yes
Correlation in international equity returns is unstable over time. It has been suggested that the international correlation of large stock returns, especially negative ones, differs from that of usual returns. It is in periods of extreme negative returns
