The C terminus of the movement protein of Brome mosaic virus controls the requirement for coat protein in cell-to-cell movement and plays a role in long-distance movement

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2004
The 3a movement protein (MP) plays a central role in the movement ofBrome mosaic virus(BMV). To identify the functional regions in BMV MP, 24 alanine-scanning (AS) MP mutants of BMV were constructed. Infectivity of the AS mutants in the host plantChenopodium quinoashowed that the central region of BMV MP is important for viral movement and both termini

WUSCHEL protein movement and stem cell homeostasis [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Signaling & Behavior, 2012
Stem cell maintenance is essential for growth and development of plants and animals. Similar to animal studies, transcription factors play a critical role in plant stem cell maintenance, however the regulatory logic is not well understood. Shoot apical meristems (SAMs) harbor a pool of pluoripotent stem cells and they provide cells for the development ...

B cell mechanobiology in health and disease: emerging techniques and insights into therapeutic responses

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
B cells sense external mechanical forces and convert them into biochemical signals through mechanotransduction. Understanding how malignant B cells respond to physical stimuli represents a groundbreaking area of research. This review examines the key mechano‐related molecules and pathways in B lymphocytes, highlights the most relevant techniques to ...

Improved fragment-based movement with LRFragLib for all-atom Ab initio protein folding [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Fragment-based assembly has been widely used in Ab initio protein folding simulation which can effectively reduce the conformational space and thus accelerate sampling. The efficiency of fragment-based movement as well as the quality of fragment library determine whether the folding process can lead the free energy landscape to the global minimum and ...

Behavior of H-FABP-fatty acid complex in a protein crystal simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Crystallographic data comes from a space-time average over all the unit cells within the crystal, so dynamic phenomena do not contribute significantly to the diffraction data. Many efforts have been made to reconstitute the movement of the macromolecules and explore the microstates that the confined proteins can adopt in the crystalline network.

Phylogenetic relationship of some "accessory" helicases of plant positive-stranded RNA viruses: towards understanding the evolution of triple gene block

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2015
Recently, we hypothesized that silencing suppression activity gained by a viral replicative helicase led to the emergence of the second helicase possessing activity of the viral silencing suppressor and/or movement protein.

The thioredoxin‐like and one glutaredoxin domain are required to rescue the iron‐starvation phenotype of HeLa GLRX3 knock out cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Glutaredoxin (Grx) 3 proteins contain a thioredoxin domain and one to three class II Grx domains. These proteins play a crucial role in iron homeostasis in eukaryotic cells. In human Grx3, at least one of the two Grx domains, together with the thioredoxin domain, is essential for its function in iron metabolism.

Recent progress in research on cell-to-cell movement of rice viruses

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2014
To adapt to plants as hosts, plant viruses have evolutionally needed the capacity to modify the host plasmodesmata (PD) that connect adjacent cells. Plant viruses have acquired one or more genes that encode movement proteins (MPs), which facilitate the ...

A Thioredoxin Domain-Containing Protein Interacts with Pepino mosaic virus Triple Gene Block Protein 1 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Pepino mosaic virus (PepMV) is a mechanically-transmitted tomato pathogen of importance worldwide. Interactions between the PepMV coat protein and triple gene block protein (TGBp1) with the host heat shock cognate protein 70 and catalase 1 (CAT1 ...

P‐glycoprotein modulates the fluidity gradient of the plasma membrane of multidrug resistant CHO cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
To explore the impact of the overexpression of the multidrug‐transporter P‐glycoprotein (ABCB1) on membrane fluidity, we compared the transversal gradient of mobility and microviscosity in plasma membranes of drug‐sensitive Chinese hamster ovary cells (AuxB1) and their multidrug‐resistant derivatives (B30) using the fluorescent n‐(9‐anthroyloxy) fatty ...
