Estimation of LD50 by moving averages [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Hygiene, 1952
Methods of graduation of a series of observations by means of moving averages were discussed by Sheppard (1914), and subsequently by Sherriff (1920) and a number of other writers. These methods based on least squares or weighted least squares solutions differ from actuarial or summation methods.

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

HDAC4 regulates apoptosis in Acan‐CreERT2;HDAC4d/d mice with osteoarthritis by downregulating ATF4

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using the AcanCreERT2;HDAC4fl/fl genetic mouse model, we further investigated the role of histone deacetylase 4 (HDAC4) in chondrocyte apoptosis. We found that knocking down HDAC4 may be associated with chondrocyte apoptosis by upregulating the activating transcription factor 4 (ATF4)/CAAT/enhancer binding protein homologous (CHOP) signaling pathway ...

FAM136A depletion induces mitochondrial stress and reduces mitochondrial membrane potential and ATP production

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
FAM136A depletion upregulated ROS production, reduced mitochondrial membrane potential (ΔΨ) and ATP production, and upregulated expression of PCK1, PCK2, HMGCS1, and HMGCS2. The expression of both TOMM22 and TOMM20 was also upregulated. FAM136A depletion reduced HCCS that produce holocytochrome c by combining heme to apocytochrome c, and reduced the ...

High-frequency sampling of multivariate CARMA processes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
High-frequency sampled multivariate continuous time autoregressive moving average processes are investigated. We obtain asymptotic expansion for the spectral density of the sampled MCARMA process $(Y_{n\Delta})_{n \in \mathbb{Z}}$ as $\Delta \downarrow 0$, where $(Y_t)_{t \in \mathbb{R}}$ is an MCARMA process. We show that the properly filtered process

A potential tumor suppressor role of PLK2 in glioblastoma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
PLK2 was consistently downregulated in GBM tissues. Overexpression of PLK2 in GBM cell lines U87MG and U251 reduced their tumorigenic potential and enhanced cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Suggesting that PLK2 overexpression could potentially be leveraged as a therapeutic strategy to inhibit tumor progression and enhance apoptosis, providing new ...

A Synchronization Algorithm Based on Moving Average for Robust Audio Watermarking Scheme [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
A synchronization code scheme based on moving average is proposed for robust audio watermarking in the paper. Two proper positive integers are chosen to compute the moving average sequence by sliding one sample every time. The synchronization bits are embedded at crosses of the two moving average sequences with the quantization index modulation.

Red blood cells could protect miRNAs from degradation or loss thanks to Argonaute 2 binding

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The present work investigates the presence and the stability of miRNAs into RBCs, both native and engineered. The observed stability is due to the Ago2 bound resulting in minimal RISC. Indeed, if the miRNA‐Ago2 complex is present, miRNAs are protected from release or degradation and they are biologically active. Thus, RBCs can act as miRNA carriers for

Berry-Esséen Bounds for Long Memory Moving Averages via Stein's Method and Malliavin Calculus [PDF]

open access: yesStoch. Anal. Appl. 29 (2011), no. 5, 881-905, 2010
Using the Stein method on Wiener chaos introduced by Nourdin and Peccati we prove Berry-Ess\'een bounds for long memory moving averages.
