Moving average filters and unit roots [PDF]
Moving average filtering a stationary AR(1) time series yields higher valued first order autocorrelations. Its implications for unit root testing in seasonally (un-) adjusted time series are evaluated theoretically, via simulations, as well as with an empirical example.

SSVEP Enhancement Using Moving Average Filter Controlled by Phase Features [PDF]
Brain-computer interface (BCI) systems translate the human neurophysiological activities into commands through EEG analysis. Improving the BCI performances leads to faster and easier use and less fatigue. In this study, we proposed a new prepossessing approach to increase the robustness of a steady-state visual evoked potential (SSVEP) based BCI ...

Knowledge-Based QRS Detection performed by a Cascade of Moving Average Filters
The detection of QRS complexes is a crucial step since all the subsequent processing of the ECG signal is very sensitive to the accuracy of this detection. This study presents an accurate and computationally efficient approach to heartbeat detection based on preprocessing and enhancement of the QRS complexes by means of cascades of moving averages ...

An αβ-Frame Moving Average Filter to Improve the Dynamic Performance of Phase-Locked Loop
The moving average filter (MAF) is one of the most widely used methods to block harmonics in a phase-locked loop (PLL). This paper proposes a simple structure for MAF to work directly in the αβ-frame (called αβMAF).

Variable Window Size Moving Average Filter for Phase-Locked-Loop Synchronization
Efficient grid synchronization is crucial for integrating renewable energy sources and Flexible AC Transmission systems (FACTs) into power grids. This paper addresses the challenges faced by Synchronous Reference Frame Phase-Locked Loops (SRF-PLLs) in ...

Wave Signatures in Total Electron Content Variations: Filtering Problems
Over recent years, global navigation satellite systems (GNSSs) have been increasingly used to study near-Earth space. The basis for such studies is the total electron content (TEC) data.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Assessing the Impact of Prolonged Averaging of Coronary Continuous Thermodilution Traces
Continuous Thermodilution is a novel method of quantifying coronary flow (Q) in mL/min. To account for variability of Q within the cardiac cycle, the trace is smoothened with a 2 s moving average filter.
