Real-time detection of moving vehicles

Proceedings 10th International Conference on Image Analysis and Processing, 2003
Computer vision-based traffic flow monitoring is of major importance for enforcing traffic management policies. Information such as the number of vehicles passing on a road per time unit, or vehicles' turning rates at intersections are exploited by traffic management policies to supervise traffic-light timings.

A diffusion framework for detection of moving vehicles

Digital Signal Processing, 2010
We introduce a novel real-time algorithm for automatic acoustic-based vehicle detection. Commonly, surveillance systems for this task use a microphone that is placed in a target area. The recorded sounds are processed in order to detect vehicles as they pass by.

Audio detection of moving vehicles

1997 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics. Computational Cybernetics and Simulation, 2002
The purpose of the paper is to present some simple but effective techniques for detecting vehicles in motion based on the energy radiated from the axles. These techniques can be applied to the implementation of vehicle counters and detectors for traffic management control.

Detection of Moving Vehicle Spacing

2018 18th International Symposium on Communications and Information Technologies (ISCIT), 2018
Traffic on the road today, the driver needs driving safety. One thing that should be cautious of driving is the decision of the rider. That requires careful decision making from the viewpoin of the windshield, side mirror or rear window. If the decision is wrong that can cause accidents.

Joint Random Fields for Moving Vehicle Detection

Procedings of the British Machine Vision Conference 2008, 2008
This paper proposes a joint random field (JRF) model for moving vehicle detection in video sequences. The JRF model extends the conditional random field (CRF) by introducing auxiliary latent variables to characterize the structure and evolution of visual scene. Hence detection labels (e.g. vehicle/roadway) and hidden variables (e.g.

Lane Detection With Moving Vehicles in the Traffic Scenes

IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2006
A lane-detection method aimed at handling moving vehicles in the traffic scenes is proposed in this brief. First, lane marks are extracted based on color information. The extraction of lane-mark colors is designed in a way that is not affected by illumination changes and the proportion of space that vehicles on the road occupy.

Detecting shadows of moving vehicles based on HMM

2008 19th International Conference on Pattern Recognition, 2008
Vehicle detection and classification are invaluable in many transportation systems, such as traffic flow analysis, abnormal events detection, automotive driver assistant systems and so on. Many vehicle detection systems have been proposed so far. However, there are still some problems not well solved yet. One of the crucial problems is how to eliminate

Acoustic Detection of Moving Vehicles

2018
This chapter outlines a robust algorithm to detect the arrival of a vehicle of arbitrary type when other noises are present. It is done via analysis of its acoustic signature against an existing database of recorded and processed acoustic signals. To achieve it with minimum number of false alarms, a construction of a training database of acoustic ...

Fast Detection of Vehicles Based-on the Moving Region

2007 10th IEEE International Conference on Computer-Aided Design and Computer Graphics, 2007
The precise location and tracking of the moving vehicles is an important part in intelligent transportation system. This paper presents a new method for detecting vehicles which can remove the shadows fast. The main process is done in three steps: moving region detection, shadow detection, and edge detection.

Smart Moving Vehicle Detection System

Journal of Computational and Theoretical Nanoscience, 2020
In Vehicle detection is a computer skill that determines the locations, direction and speed of running vehicles in arbitrary (digital) images. Using vehicle features and ignores anything else, such as buildings, trees and bodies. Vehicle detection is currently an active research area in the computer vision community.
