Depletion of Moxidectin Tissue Residues in Sheep

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2000
The pattern of tissue depletion of moxidectin (MXD) subcutaneously administered to sheep was characterized in this study. MXD concentration profiles were determined in muscle, fat, and liver and at the site of injection following administration of a formulation combining MXD (0.5% w/v) with a standard 6 in 1 clostridial vaccine.

Decreased ivermectin and moxidectin sensitivity in Haemonchus contortus selected with moxidectin over 14 generations

Veterinary Parasitology, 1999
Ivermectin resistance in the nematode Haemonchus contortus has been reported in many parts of the world and many ivermectin resistant isolates have been found to have reduced sensitivity to moxidectin. However, it is unclear whether parasites that are selected with moxidectin would demonstrate reduced sensitivity to ivermectin.

Presumed moxidectin toxicosis in three foals

Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 1999
Outcome and complications associated with administration of moxidectin gel to 3 foals < 4 months old are described. Two foals became comatose but survived following supportive treatment. One foal died following loss of consciousness associated with moxidectin administration. Risk of moxidectin overdose exists, because horse owners often fail to read or

Efficacy of moxidectin against cyathostomins

Veterinary Record, 2009
It would be very encouraging if the report of [Schumacher and others (2009)][1] was a true indication of the lack of moxidectin resistance in horses after its use for five years in a heavily stocked pasture, but on the data presented I do not believe that this conclusion can be reached.

A review of the use of moxidectin in horses

Equine Veterinary Education, 2008
Summary Moxidectin has broad‐spectrum anti‐nematodal and anti‐arthropodal activities in the horse but is not effective against tapeworms or flukes. Moxidectin and ivermectin have the same efficacy against internal, adult parasites of horses.

The influence of parasitism on the pharmacokinetics of moxidectin in lambs

Parasitology Research, 2004
Most pharmacokinetic studies on anthelmintic drugs have been performed on non-parasitized animals. However, it seems likely that the parasite burden could influence the deposition of such drugs. The pharmacokinetics of moxidectin administered orally and by subcutaneous injection was compared in lambs exposed to nematode infection and in parasite naive ...

In vitro and in vivo interaction of moxidectin with BCRP/ABCG2

Chemico-Biological Interactions, 2009
The study characterizes the interaction between BCRP/ABCG2 and moxidectin by means of cellular transport, and pharmacokinetic studies in Bcrp1 (-/-) and wild-type mice. Milbemycin moxidectin ([(3)H]-moxidectin) was tested for its ability to be transported across MCDK-II epithelial monolayer cultures transfected with BCRP.

Parascaris equorum resistance to moxidectin?

Veterinary Record, 2008
SIR, — With reference to the letter from Martin Peaty ( VR , March 22, 2008, vol 162, p 387), suggesting that moxidectin resistance may now be present in Parascaris equorum in the uk, there are a few points that need to be considered.

Moxidectin:  Metabolic Fate and Blood Pharmacokinetics of 14C-Labeled Moxidectin in Horses

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 1997
Serum and whole blood pharmacokinetics of moxidectin and excretion and biotransformation in edible tissues and excreta have been evaluated in the horse at a dose level of 0.4 mg/kg of body weight. Three animals were orally dosed with 14C-labeled moxidectin, formulated as a gel.

Efficacy of moxidectin against gastrointestinal nematodes of cattle

Veterinary Record, 1992
Three groups of 11 naturally infected crossbred beef calves were injected subcutaneously with moxidectin 1 per cent injectable at 0.2 or 0.3 mg moxidectin/kg bodyweight or with the unmedicated vehicle. Nematode infections had been acquired during grazing from December to April.
