A network MPEG camera

1999 Digest of Technical Papers. International Conference on Consumer Electronics (Cat. No.99CH36277), 1999
A network MPEG camera which can be directly connected to a network for real-time digital video transmission has been developed. The camera works under TCP/IP protocol, and accepts remote control commands from PCs. The command set of the camera includes record/pause command, mode change command, zoom control command, bit rate control command, and so on.

MPEG column: 116th MPEG meeting

ACM SIGMultimedia Records, 2017
At its 116th meeting, MPEG successfully organised a workshop on its 5-year standardisation roadmap. Various industry representatives presented their views and reflected on the need for standards for new services and applications, specifically in the area of immersive media. The results of the workshop (roadmap, presentations) and the planned phases for

Regularized dequantizer for MPEG

2000 Digest of Technical Papers. International Conference on Consumer Electronics. Nineteenth in the Series (Cat. No.00CH37102), 2000
Based on regularization principles, we propose a new dequantization scheme for MPEG. The new approach drastically reduces blocking artifacts without smoothing the decoded image. Most discrete cosine transform (DCT) based video coding suffer from blocking artifacts where boundaries of 8/spl times/8 DCT blocks become visible on decoded images.

Continuity and synchronization in MPEG

IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 1996
The requirement of continuous retrieval, and the presence of multiple media streams whose display must proceed in a mutually synchronized manner are the distinguishing features that are unique to digital multimedia. In the emerging international multimedia encoding standard MPEG, continuity and synchronization are handled at different layers of the ...

Efficient MPEG-2 to MPEG-4 compressed video transcoding

SPIE Proceedings, 2002
MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 are two most popular international video compression standards. They will coexist in different systems and networks for a long time. For compatibility of these two video standards, this paper put forward three transcoding algorithms on the basis of detailed analysis of computational complexity.

The MPEG-7 Multimedia Database System (MPEG-7 MMDB)

Journal of Systems and Software, 2008
Broadly used Database Management Systems (DBMS) propose multimedia extensions, like Oracle's Multimedia (formerly interMedia). However, these extensions lack means for managing the requirements of multimedia data in terms of semantic meaningful querying, advanced indexing, content modeling and multimedia programming libraries.

FTV standardization in MPEG

2014 3DTV-Conference: The True Vision - Capture, Transmission and Display of 3D Video (3DTV-CON), 2014
FTV (Free-viewpoint TV) enables to view a 3D world by freely changing the viewpoint. MPEG has been developing FTV standards since 2001. MVC (Multiview Video Coding) was the first phase of FTV, which enabled the efficient coding of multiview video. View synthesis is not considered in MVC.

A new requantization method for MPEG-1 to MPEG-4 transcoder

IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo, 2001. ICME 2001., 2001
In this paper, we propose a new requantization method for the transcoder from MPEG-1 to MPEG-4 in DCT-domain. For rate control of heterogeneous transcoder, we use the requantization method. Conventional requantization methods for the homogeneous transcoder cannot be used directly for the heterogeneous transcoder due to the mismatch in quantization ...
