Recent genetic connectivity and clinal variation in chimpanzees

open access: yesCommunications Biology, 2021
Lester and colleagues use faecal samples and genetic analyses to investigate the genetic connectivity across chimpanzees. Their results indicate that the global pattern of genetic diversity in chimpanzees is largely characterized by a pattern of ...

MPI-CorrBench

open access: yesProceedings of the 30th International Symposium on High-Performance Parallel and Distributed Computing, 2021
The Message Passing Interface (MPI) is the de-facto standard for distributed memory computing in high-performance computing (HPC). To aid developers write correct MPI programs, different tools have been proposed, e.g., Intel Trace Analyzer and Collector (ITAC), MUST, Parcoach and MPI-Checker.

A spliceosome intermediate with loosely associated tri-snRNP accumulates in the absence of Prp28 ATPase activity

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
The assembly of the splicesome involves several distinct stages that require the sequential action of DExD/H-box RNA helicases. Here, the authors uncover a new intermediate, the pre-B complex, that accumulates in the presence of an inactive form of the ...

Development of a hybrid parallel algorithm (MPI + OpenMP) for solving the Poisson equation

open access: yesВестник КазНУ. Серия математика, механика, информатика, 2018
This article presents the development of a hybrid parallel algorithm for solving the Dirichlet problem for the two-dimensional Poisson equation. MPI and OpenMP were chosen as the technology for parallelization.

MPI + MPI: a new hybrid approach to parallel programming with MPI plus shared memory [PDF]

open access: yesComputing, 2013
Hybrid parallel programming with the message passing interface (MPI) for internode communication in conjunction with a shared-memory programming model to manage intranode parallelism has become a dominant approach to scalable parallel programming. While this model provides a great deal of flexibility and performance potential, it saddles programmers ...

Measurements of jet rates with the anti-kt and SISCone algorithms at LEP with the OPAL detector

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
We study jet production in e+e− annihilation to hadrons with data recorded by the OPAL experiment at LEP at centre-of-mass energies between 90 GeV and 207 GeV.

A Lightweight Procedural Layer for Hybrid Experimental–Computational Workflows in Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We unveil a prototype hybrid‐workflow framework that fuses automatedcomputation with hands‐on experiments. Built atop pyiron, a lightweight, parameterized layer translates procedure descriptions into executable manual steps, syncing instrument settings, human interventions, and data capture in real‐time today.

GPU Parallelization of a Hybrid Pseudospectral Geophysical Turbulence Framework Using CUDA

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2020
An existing hybrid MPI-OpenMP scheme is augmented with a CUDA-based fine grain parallelization approach for multidimensional distributed Fourier transforms, in a well-characterized pseudospectral fluid turbulence code.

A Mathematical Model of Parallel Programs and an Approach Based on it to Verification of MPI Programs

open access: yesМоделирование и анализ информационных систем, 2021
The paper presents a new mathematical model of parallel programs, on the basis of which it is possible, in particular, to verify parallel programs presented on a certain subset of the parallel programming interface MPI.

Integration of Low‐Voltage Nanoscale MoS2 Memristors on CMOS Microchips

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the first monolithic integration of nanoscale MoS2‐based memristors into the back‐end‐of‐line of foundry‐fabricated CMOS microchips in a one‐transistor‐one‐resistor (1T1R) architecture. The MoS2‐based 1T1R cells exhibit forming‐free, nonvolatile resistive switching with ultra‐low operating voltages, low cycle‐to‐cycle variability ...
