High fat diet‐induced maternal obesity in mice impairs peripartum maternal behaviour

Maternal obesity in humans is associated with impaired initiation of breastfeeding, and was modelled by a mouse model of diet‐induced maternal obesity where offspring fail to survive. Early postpartum, obese dams spent less time in their nest with their pups compared to control dams.
