Multi‐Layered Genomic and Clinical Analysis Identifies Novel Variants, Co‐Occurring Single Nucleotide Polymorphism Pairs, and Clinical Determinants of Host‐Pathogen Interaction in COVID‐19 Severity

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 98, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Host genetic factors may contribute to COVID‐19 severity. To identify genetic variants influencing COVID‐19 severity progression, whole‐exome sequencing was performed, followed by an exome‐wide association study on 191 hospitalized patients categorized into three severity groups.

Viral Detection and Clinical Disease Features in Pediatric Chronic Rhinosinusitis

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) results from complex host‐environment interactions with microbiome dysbiosis and viral infections postulated to drive inflammation and anatomic remodeling. This study investigates the impact of viral presence on pediatric sinonasal disease and clinical outcomes.

A Numerical Method Combining Cubic Interpolated Propagation and Shifted Grünwald–Letnikov for Fractional Advection–Dispersion Equations

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Volume 50, Issue 8, Page 3546-3557, 10 June 2026.
ABSTRACT Recent advances in the numerical solution of fractional partial differential equations have yielded promising results. In particular, the Shifted Grünwald–Letnikov (SGL) approach allows for a generalization of the traditional finite difference method to the context of fractional differential equations.

Clinical Factors Associated With Non‐Completion of Durvalumab Maintenance Therapy After Chemoradiotherapy in Patients With Locally Advanced Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer: A Single‐Center Retrospective Study

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 17, Issue 12, June 2026.
Among 80 patients with locally advanced NSCLC receiving durvalumab after CCRT, 44 patients (55%) did not complete 12 months of treatment. Lower A/G ratio and higher RDW‐SD before durvalumab initiation may serve as exploratory signals for non‐completion, closer monitoring, and supportive care planning.

Spermidine Mitigates Immune Cell Senescence and Boosts Vaccine Responses in Healthy Older Adults—A Pilot Study

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 6, June 2026.
Can we boost vaccine responses in older adults? In a double‐blind, randomised, placebo‐controlled pilot study (n = 40, > 65 years), spermidine supplementation (6 mg/day, 13 weeks) was safe and significantly improved immune responses following a 3rd SARS‐CoV‐2 vaccine dose.

Morquio syndrome (MPV IV)--a case report.

open access: yesIndian journal of ophthalmology, 1991
A child, of normal intelligence, belonging to a nonconsanguineous marriage was diagnosed as MPS type IV the so called Morquio syndrome. Despite mild corneal cloudiness no other ophthalmological abnormalities were observed. Reilly granules in the leukocytes and abnormal mucopolysaccharides in urine confirmed the diagnosis.

Altered cytoskeletal integrity underlies impaired platelet shape change and defective thrombus formation in ETV6‐related thrombocytopenia

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, Volume 208, Issue 6, Page 1965-1979, June 2026.
Summary ETV6‐related thrombocytopenia (ETV6‐RT) is an inherited platelet disorder caused by germline ETV6 variants. Despite recent progress, the mechanisms underlying platelet dysfunction in ETV6‐RT remain unclear. We investigated 12 patients from six families using functional assays, electron microscopy, quantitative proteomics and cytoskeletal ...

Myeloid Cell Function and Cytokine Profiles in Paediatric Haemophilia A: Insights From FVIII and Emicizumab Prophylaxis

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 30, Issue 11, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Haemophilia A (HA) is an X‐linked bleeding disorder caused by factor VIII (FVIII) deficiency, treated with FVIII infusions or, more recently, Emicizumab subcutaneously. Although Emicizumab is safe and effective, FVIII is still required for severe bleeding, trauma, or surgery, and few studies have compared these prophylactic options in ...
