Flow Behaviour of Bidisperse MR Polishing Fluid and Ball End MR Finishing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Bidisperse MR polishing fluid samples has been prepared with varying percentage of small sized magnetic contents of carbonyl iron powder (CIPs) HS grade within same vol% of total magnetic contents. Magnetorheological behaviours of bidisperse MR polishing

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Evaluation of cluster formation and flow characteristics of magneto-rheological fluid in a branch pipe under the magnetic field for shutting down leakage

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2015
Flow dynamics of magneto-rheological (MR) fluid in a branch pipe as a simple model of a cracked pipe and a blood vessel with wounds is clarified by considering the effects of magnetic field intensity, inner diameter of a branch channel and wall ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Optimal Location of an Active Segment of Magnetorheological Fluid Layer in a Sandwich Plate [PDF]

open access: yesActa Montanistica Slovaca, 2011
In the present study a sandwich plate, of rectangular form, with magnetorheological (MR) fluid core is investigated. The plate consists of two outer layers made of aluminium and an MR fluid layer in between. The plate edges are clamped. It wasassumed that

Magnetorheological Fluid Filled Spring for Variable Stiffness and Damping: Current and Potential Performance

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2022
Magnetorheological (MR) fluid is a smart material utilized for semi-active damping devices thanks to its ability to become viscoelastic solid under a magnetic field and provide variable damping.

Refinement of amino‐acid conformation vs. difference density maps in time‐resolved serial femtosecond crystallography data analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The dFoCC pipeline starts with observed DED and resting‐state coordinates, which are then used to generate a library of triggered states. Correlation analysis of the calculated DED features of each candidate vs observed DED permits quantitative evaluation of candidate structural quality.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.
