MRAS Observer for Sensorless Control of Standalone Doubly Fed Induction Generators

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2005
This paper presents an analysis of a model reference adaptive system (MRAS) observer for the sensorless control of a standalone doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). The analysis allows the formal design of the MRAS observer of given dynamics and further allows the prediction of rotor position estimation errors under parameter mismatch.

MRAS Observer for Doubly Fed Induction Machines

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 2004
In this paper, a model reference adaptive system (MRAS) observer for sensorless vector control of doubly-fed induction machines is presented. A small-signal model is developed and a 3-kW experimental setup is used to validate the strategy. The experimental results show the high level of performance obtained with the proposed sensorless scheme.

Sensorless Control of Doubly-Fed Induction Generators Using a Rotor-Current-Based MRAS Observer

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2008
This paper presents a new sensorless method for the vector control of doubly-fed induction machines (DFIMs) without using speed sensors or rotor position measurements. The proposed sensorless method is based on the model reference adaptive system (MRAS) estimating the rotor position and speed from the machine rotor currents.

Self-Tuning Observer for Sensor Fault-Tolerant Control of Induction Motor Drive

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
This paper introduces a new solution for the speed and current sensor fault-tolerant direct field-oriented control of induction motor drives. Two self-adjusting observers derived from a modified current-based model reference adaptive system (CB-MRAS) are

A Composite Variable Structure PI Controller for Sensorless Speed Control Systems of IPMSM

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
In the speed control system of an Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) without a speed sensor, PI controllers using only a fixed set of parameters cannot achieve accurate tracking of the estimated speed in a wide speed domain and also ...
