MRI-guided Radiotherapy (MRgRT) for Treatment of Oligometastases: Review of Clinical Applications and Challenges

International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics, 2022
Early clinical results on the application of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) coupled with a linear accelerator to deliver Magnetic Resonance-guided Radiation Therapy (MRgRT) have demonstrated feasibility for safe delivery of stereotactic body radiation therapy in treatment of oligometastatic disease.

Radiochromic Film Dosimetry in Antropomorphic Phantoms for MR Guided Radiotherapy (MRgRT)

2022
Introduction: Combined use of MRI-scanners and linear accelerators provide realtime image guidanceduring radiotherapy (MRgRT). The presence of the MRI scanner constant magnetic field affects the response of dosimeters. Dosimetry with radiochromic films inserted in anthropomorphic phantoms, with density variations simulating those in human bodies, is ...

WE-B-BRD-03: MR QA/QC for MRgRT

Medical Physics, 2015
The use of MRI in radiation therapy is rapidly increasing. Applications vary from the MRI simulator, to the MRI fused with CT, and to the integrated MRI+RT system. Compared with the standard MRI QA, a broader scope of QA features has to be defined in order to maximize the benefits of using MRI in radiation therapy.

TU‐G‐BRA‐02: Development of a 4D‐MRI Technique for MRgRT

Medical Physics, 2012
Purpose: To develop a 4D‐MRI technique tailored for the daily patient setup verification and offline assessment of dynamic delivery for MR‐guided adaptive radiotherapy. Methods: The method consists of a sequential acquisition of 2D‐cine data at neighbouring locations covering a certain volume of interest.

Image-guided radiation therapy: emergence of MR-guided radiation treatment (MRgRT) systems

SPIE Proceedings, 2010
Radiation therapy has been on the march toward highly conformal and precise placement of radiation dose within the human body. Development of image-guidance systems based upon x-ray and ultrasound have advanced our capabilities to the level of a few millimeters of uncertainty in many sites.

MRgRT Quality Assurance for a Low-Field MR-Linac

Seminars in Radiation Oncology
The introduction of MR-guided treatment machines into the radiation oncology clinic has provided unique challenges for the radiotherapy QA program. These MR-linac systems require that existing QA procedures be adapted to verify linac performance within the magnetic field environment and that new procedures be added to ensure acceptable image quality ...

Low-field MR Multitasking for an integrated abdominal MRgRT imaging framework

ISMRM Annual Meeting
MR applications in radiation therapy has shown great promise for highly conformal treatment. However, MRgRT in the abdomen remains challenging due to motion and the sheer number of organs. In this work, we have demonstrated at 0.55T an integrated multi-task MR platform for adaptive radiation planning and treatment monitoring in the abdomen.
