This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

mRNA 3′end processing: A tale of the tail reaches the clinic
Recent advances reveal mRNA 3′end processing as a highly regulated process that fine‐tunes posttranscriptional gene expression. This process can affect the site and/or the efficiency of 3′end processing, controlling the quality and the quantity of ...

Identification of an Alternative Exon in a GABA Receptor Gene [PDF]
The central dogma of biology states that DNA is transcribed into mRNA, which is then translated into proteins. In order for translation to occur, pre-mRNAs first must be processed.

Evidence for a nuclear compartment of transcription and splicing located at chromosome domain boundaries [PDF]
The nuclear topography of splicing snRNPs, mRNA transcripts and chromosome domains in various mammalian cell types are described. The visualization of splicing snRNPs, defined by the Sm antigen, and coiled bodies, revealed distinctly different ...

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Cyclosporin A-binding protein (cyclophilin) of Neurospora crassa [PDF]
Cyclophilin (cyclosporin A-binding protein) has a dual localization in the mitochondria and in the cytosol of Neurospora crassa. The two forms are encoded by a single gene which is transcribed into mRNAs having different lengths and 5' termini ...

ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Summary: The yeast protein Ipa1 was recently discovered to interact with the Ysh1 endonuclease of the pre-mRNA cleavage and polyadenylation (C/P) machinery, and Ipa1 mutation impairs 3′end processing.

Infinite factorization of multiple non-parametric views [PDF]
Combined analysis of multiple data sources has increasing application interest, in particular for distinguishing shared and source-specific aspects. We extend this rationale of classical canonical correlation analysis into a flexible, generative and non ...

Processing Endoribonucleases and mRNA Degradation in Bacteria [PDF]
Volume 184, no. 17, p. 4645-4657, 2002. Page 4647, column 1, lines 42-45: The sentence should read “For example, one message in the T7 early polycistronic mRNA, as well as a few late messages, yields increased protein from RNase III cleavage while the others are not affected by such cleavages (41).”
