Mitochondrial presequences are more than just address labels

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Most mitochondrial proteins are synthesized in the cytosol as precursor proteins with N‐terminal presequences. These presequences serve as targeting signals that facilitate the binding to mitochondrial surface receptors and translocation across the mitochondrial membranes.

In and out of the mitochondrial intermembrane space

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Mitochondria are essential organelles constituted by two membranes, the outer (OMM) and inner mitochondrial membrane (IMM), and two aqueous compartments, the intermembrane space (IMS) and the matrix. Although mitochondria contain their own genome, which encodes for 13 proteins in humans (8 in budding yeast), the vast majority (99%) of ...

MODELOS DE SISTEMAS MRP CERRADOS INTEGRANDO INCERTIDUMBRE MODELOS DE SISTEMAS MRP FECHADOS INTEGRANDO INCERTEZA CLOSED MODELS OF MRP SYSTEMS CONSIDERING UNCERTAINTIES

open access: yesRevista EIA, 2012
En este artículo se muestran cuatro modelos de los sistemas MRP cerrados con incertidumbre en los componentes de producción, como son: la capacidad necesaria de fabricación de cada producto, el tiempo de entrega y la disponibilidad del inventario. Dichos

Risk Assessment for Drug‐Induced Hyperbilirubinemia: A Mechanistic Approach

open access: yesCPT: Pharmacometrics &Systems Pharmacology, Volume 15, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Hyperbilirubinemia, characterized by elevated total blood bilirubin levels including both unconjugated and conjugated forms, serves as a diagnostic marker for drug‐induced liver toxicity associated with a wide range of medications. This study aimed to develop a mechanistic model for assessing hyperbilirubinemia risk using genetic markers.

New Hybrid Nanocomposite Films for Optical Diagnostics and Optical Temperature Sensing: Synergy Among α‐Synuclein, Gold and Upconverting Nanoparticles

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 15, 12 March 2026.
Gold and upconverting nanoparticles coated with alpha‐synuclein were exploited to produce a quasi‐monolayer hybrid film. The film was then characterized, and its behaviour as a primary optical nano‐thermometer was studied. The film was also used in a proof‐of‐concept study of image‐based optical nanothermometry exploiting a home‐built up‐conversion ...

Mechanism elucidation of cell‐selective fluorescent probes

open access: yesSmart Molecules, Volume 4, Issue 1, March 2026.
This perspective outlines five mechanistic strategies—Protein‐oriented, carbohydrate‐oriented, lipid‐oriented, gating‐oriented, and metabolism‐oriented live‐cell distinctions—for achieving cell‐selective fluorescence in live‐cell imaging. By classifying probes based on their interactions with proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, transporters, or metabolic ...
