Cushioning performance design of meta-sandwich structures inspired by Kirigami

open access: yesVirtual and Physical Prototyping, 2023
Novel ultralight meta-sandwich structures inspired by Kirigami (MSS) are proposed in this study. The topological designs of uniform (MSS-U) and non-uniform (MSS-N) sizes are studied based on the inconsistent distribution of the biomaterials. First, MSS-U

Association Between Motor Pathway Damage and Motor Deficit in Upper and Lower Limb in People With MS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Corticospinal tract damage is common in people with MS, but the degree of clinical symptoms varies. We hypothesize that corticospinal tract lesions are more extensive and severe in people with MS with motor impairments in both upper and lower limbs.

The effects of age and sex on the incidence of multiple step saccades and corrective saccades

open access: yesFrontiers in Aging Neuroscience, 2022
ObjectiveAlthough multiple step saccades (MSS) is occasionally observed in healthy subjects, it is more pronounced in patients with aging-related neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinson’s disease (PD).

Cracking the Code: Which Ocular Symptoms Predict Dry Eye Signs? Insights from a large international sicca registry

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Purpose The study aimed to identify symptom‐based predictors of dry eye disease (DED) signs in the Sjögrens International Collaborative Clinical Alliance (SICCA) cohort. Methods Retrospective analysis examining 16 ocular symptoms (most graded 0‐4) and artificial tear (AT) use (graded 0‐3) as predictors of DED signs [abnormal ocular surface staining ...

Obesity subtypes and longitudinal trajectories of function over 7‐years of follow‐up: data from the Multicenter Osteoarthritis Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Background Obesity, defined by BMI ≥30kg/m2, is a risk factor for functional limitations in people with knee osteoarthritis (OA). However, function varies among such individuals. Our objective was to evaluate the implications of obesity subtypes on longitudinal patterns of physical functioning in people with or at risk for knee OA.

An Engineered Living Material With Pro‐Angiogenic Activity Inducible by Near‐Infrared Light

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
NIR‐responsive engineered living materials (ELMs) for controlled angiogenesis: Near‐infrared (800 nm) light activates engineered probiotic bacteria within alginate‐based living materials to secrete a blood vessel‐regenerating protein. The released protein promotes pro‐angiogenic effects in endothelial networks and chick chorioallantoic membranes.

Investigation of Halogen Substitution Effects in π‐Conjugated Organic Ligands of Chiral Hybrid Perovskites on Their Chiroptical Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The role of novel thiophene‐based ligands with halogen substitutions in enhancing the chiroptical and optoelectronic properties of 2D chiral HOIPs has been investigated. By tailoring ligand design, enhanced CD and CPL properties are achieved, with improved CPL discrimination in photodetectors.

Case Report: MSS colorectal extrahepatic (non-liver) metastases as the dominant population for immunotherapy combined with multi-target tyrosine kinase inhibitors

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2023
BackgroundThe microsatellite stability(MSS) subtype of Colorectal Cancer(CRC) represents approximately 95% of mCRC cases. Immunotherapy was not as encouraging as the data for MSS mCRC cancer.
