Investigation for Possible Association of the Topside and Bottomside Ionospheric Irregularities over the Midlatitude Ionosphere

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The present study investigates the characteristics of ionospheric irregularities at middle latitudes by examining the association between spread F (SF) events detected by Digisondes and medium-scale travelling ionospheric disturbances (MSTIDs) detected ...

Statistical analysis of low-latitude spread F observed over Puer, China, during 2015–2016

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space, 2019
Statistical analysis of spread F (SF), recorded at Puer (PUR, 22.7° N, 101.05° E, Dip Latitude 12.9° N) during 2015–2016, was carried out to reveal its characteristics at the northern equatorial ionization anomaly.

Statistics of Traveling Ionospheric Disturbances at High Latitudes Using a Rapid-Run Ionosonde [PDF]

open access: yes
The potential of deep learning for the investigation of medium scale traveling ionospheric disturbances (MSTIDs) has been exploited through the Sodankylä rapid-run ionosonde in this statistical study.

MSTID forecasting software codes delivered by the T-FORS project

open access: yes
This report provides a description of the codes that estimate the climatological pattern of MSTIDs, developed in the T-FORS project. The MSTID climatology is based on the detrended TEC data and can be used as a long-term forecasting tool. The validation confirms the expected diurnal and seasonal variability of the physical phenomenon.

High-resolution 3-D imaging of electron density perturbations using ultra-dense GNSS observation networks in Japan: an example of medium-scale traveling ionospheric disturbances

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space
For the first time using computerized ionospheric tomography (CIT) and leveraging ultra-dense slant total electron content (STEC) measurements derived from two ground-based Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver networks in Japan, we have ...
