CMOS APS MTF Modeling

IEEE Transactions on Electron Devices, 2001
In this paper, a unified model, based on a thorough analysis of experimental data, is developed for the overall modulation transfer function (MTF) estimation for CMOS image sensors. The model covers the physical diffusion effect together with the influence of the pixel active area geometrical shape.

Noise in MTF Measurements

Applied Optics, 1973
The effect of shot noise on the MTF of a lens when measured by means of an edge scan is treated both analytically and experimentally. It is shown that the variance in the MTF, introduced by the shot noise, establishes an upper bound on the magnitude of any systematic error introduced into the MTF measurement by the noise.

MTF Optimization in Lens Design

International Lens Design, 1990
Optimization programs generally use a merit function which is related to mean square spot size or wave aberration. Direct MTF optimization has been tried, but with limited success. One problem, which makes it almost unusable in the early stages of the design, is the fact that MTF values are bounded between 0.0 and 1.0 and oscillate significantly as a ...

Vertical MTF measurements

SPIE Proceedings, 1993
A method for measuring imaging system MTF is presented that is compatible with modeling predictions as implemented in the Army's FLIR90/92 static performance model. The method uses commonly available commercial test equipment and personal computers and is effective for measuring scanning and staring array imaging systems in any imaging orientation ...

Aerosol MTF revisited

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
Different views of the significance of aerosol MTF have been reported. For example, one recent paper [OE, 52(4)/2013, pp. 046201] claims that the aerosol MTF "contrast reduction is approximately independent of spatial frequency, and image blur is practically negligible". On the other hand, another recent paper [JOSA A, 11/2013, pp.
