Toward a BITE for real time MTTF estimation of capacitors

2010 IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Technology Conference Proceedings, 2010
The use of an equipment able to provide a real time diagnostic of a monitored device (BITE) allows to increase reliability and to decrease costs. BITE operates on the basis of a suitable life model of the considered device that must relate time to failure with past and present stresses.

Exploiting Dynamic Platform Protection Technique for Increasing Service MTTF

2019 IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM), 2019
Moving Target Defense (MTD) technology protects a target system by complicating the attacking process of adversaries. It has been gaining more and more attention with the massive growth of vulnerabilities and the widespread deployment of critical network services.

Improvement of MTTF of feedforward neural networks by applying relearning

Electronics and Communications in Japan (Part II: Electronics), 2002
AbstractMany neural networks have been studied, most of them using computer simulations, as a source of new computational paradigms. Since most implementations of neural networks require many elemental components, it is necessary to use a fault‐tolerance mechanism with them.

Determinations of MTTF from the Transition Probability Matrix & Diagram

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1978
In designing complex repairable systems it is often important to assess system MTTF for a variety of component reliability characteristics and repair capabilities. Two procedures are given for systems for which a state transition diagram is possible. The first allows such calculation to be perforned iteratively without solving each time the system of ...

Choosing a Practical MTTF Model for ECC Memory Chip

Annual Reliability and Maintainability Symposium, 1984. Proceedings., 2005
This paper presents an assessment and evaluation of the leading memory chip error correction code (ECC) reliability prediction models. Criteria was developed and applied to four of the currently most popular ECC memory chip reliability models. The characteristic analysis, reliability prediction models and modifications to these reliability prediction ...

Usefulness of MTTF of s-independent case in other cases

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1992
It is a plausible conjecture that for many cases of statistical dependence, the system MTTF (mean time to failure) is nearly that for statistically independent components. The author deals with Markov k-out-of-n:F systems, for which the degree to which the above conjecture is true could be clarified satisfactorily.

The MTTF and Reliability Evaluation of a PLC System

Key Engineering Materials, 2004
This paper presents the evaluation technique of the mean time to failure (MTTF) and reliability corresponding to a programmable logic controller (PLC) structures such as a single controller, a dual controller and a triple modular redundancy (TMR) controller. The failure and repair period of PLCs are surveyed, and the failure rate of each unit composing

General solutions for MTTF and steady-state availability of NMR systems

2014 9th International Symposium on Reconfigurable and Communication-Centric Systems-on-Chip (ReCoSoC), 2014
Voting redundancy is a well-known technique to improve the fault tolerance of digital systems. Calculation of reliability and availability is a necessary part of every fault tolerant system design. Conventional techniques, including block diagram method, are unsuccessful when there is dependent failure, repair, or standby operation in the system.

How to manage MTTF larger than 30,000hr on rotary cryocoolers

SPIE Proceedings, 2017
The cooled IR detectors are used in a wide range of applications. Most of the time, the cryocoolers are one of the components dimensioning the lifetime of the system. Indeed, Stirling coolers are mechanical systems where wear occurs on millimetric mechanisms.

MTTF-Aware Reliability Task Scheduling for Heterogeneous Multicore System

2015
With silicon technology aggressively scaling, the aging-induced long-term reliability becomes the prominent problem of integrated circuits. The reliability of homogeneous multi-core system is improved and the aging is relieved through balancing the workload between cores.
