Predictive utility of a simple cranial magnetic resonance imaging score at term‐equivalent age for cerebral palsy

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, EarlyView.
This study evaluated the Total Abnormality Score (TAS) from cMRI at term‐equivalent age as a predictor of cerebral palsy (CP) in 137 infants born preterm or with low birthweight. Infants who developed CP had significantly higher TAS values (median 11 vs 2), with a TAS cut‐off of 9.5 demonstrating high sensitivity (88.9%) and specificity (91.4%) for CP ...

Tree growth response and adaptation to climate change and climate extremes: From canopy to stem

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
This review synthesizes the responses and adaptations of tree growth, including canopy phenology, intra‐annual wood formation dynamics, and annual stem growth, to climate change and climate extremes. It highlights key knowledge gaps for future research to support sustainable forest management and enhance forest carbon storage under ongoing climate ...

Atrial Fibrillation and Hyperthyroidism [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Atrial fibrillation occurs in 10 – 15% of patients with hyperthyroidism. Low serum thyrotropin concentration is an independent risk factor for atrial fibrillation. Thyroid hormone contributes to arrythmogenic activity by altering the electrophysiological

Constitution and function of intergenic genome regions in cultivated versus annual wild soybean in China

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Three‐case restricted two‐stage multi‐locus multi‐allele genome‐wide association study identified main‐effect genes and detected the regulatory effects of intergenic loci on genes, enabling comprehensive dissection of the genic‐intergenic genetic system for quantitative traits and providing a strategy for studying their genetic basis.

What Makes Mothers Decide (Not) to Become Entrepreneurs? Unpacking the Role of Time and Money in Parental Leave Policies

open access: yesJournal of Management Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract Whether mothers become entrepreneurs after childbirth may depend on the generosity of the parental leave that they receive. We apply a resource perspective to disentangle the impact of the policy's time and money components on mothers' likelihood of becoming entrepreneurs.

Quantifying Cortical Maturational Aspects During Different Vigilance States in Preterm Infants by Advanced EEG Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Preterm birth is a significant risk factor for atypical neurodevelopment, yet early electrophysiological markers of brain maturation are still lacking. Non‐invasive electroencephalographic (EEG) monitoring of cortical maturation in these patients holds promise as a tool for neurodevelopmental prediction.

Unified theory of alpha, mu, and tau rhythms via eigenmodes of brain activity

open access: yesFrontiers in Computational Neuroscience
A compact description of the frequency structure and topography of human alpha-band rhythms is obtained by use of the first four brain activity eigenmodes previously derived from corticothalamic neural field theory.
