Ruptured primary mucinous cystadenoma of spleen leading to mucinous ascites

open access: yesBMJ Case Reports, 2019
Mucinous cystadenoma are rare benign mucin-producing tumours. Primary mucinous neoplasms most commonly involve ovary, pancreas or appendix. They may rupture to produce mucous ascites/pseudomyxoma peritonei.

open access: yesCureus, 2019
Mucinous cystadenomas of the ovary are benign epithelial neoplasms that can grow rapidly during pregnancy. They may cause ovarian torsion, virilization, inferior vena cava syndrome, and even preterm labor and fetal growth restriction.

The Milan System SUMP Category: 5‐Year Diagnostic Performance

open access: yesDiagnostic Cytopathology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Salivary gland neoplasms are heterogeneous, with wide cytomorphological overlap. Neoplasms categorized in the Milan System for Reporting Salivary Gland Cytopathology (MSRSGC) as salivary gland neoplasms of uncertain malignant potential (SUMP) reflect this diagnostic challenge.

Mucinous cystic neoplasms of the pancreas and liver share a similar DNA methylation profile with mucinous ovarian tumors

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, EarlyView.
Abstract The origin of mucinous cystic neoplasms (MCNs) remains a major challenge in hepato‐pancreato‐biliary pathology. These cystic tumors are defined by their mucinous epithelium and ovarian‐like stroma, with an estimated 10% risk of progression to invasive carcinoma. The origin of the ovarian‐like stroma remains a subject of debate.
