Magnetic wire active microrheology of human respiratory mucus [PDF]

open access: yesSoft Matter, 2021,17, 7585-7595, 2021
Mucus is a viscoelastic gel secreted by the pulmonary epithelium in the tracheobronchial region of the lungs. The coordinated beating of cilia moves mucus upwards towards pharynx, removing inhaled pathogens and particles from the airways. The efficacy of this clearance mechanism depends primarily on the rheological properties of mucus.

Multifocal pulmonary mucinous cystic neoplasm with ovarian type stroma, a new finding in an extremely rare case report

open access: yesIndian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology, 2014
Primary pulmonary mucinous cystic neoplasm is a rare tumor and there are only a few case reports in the English literature. Herein we report a very unusual multifocal pulmonary mucinous neoplasm.

Formation of Pancreatoduodenal Fistula in Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasm of the Pancreas Decreased the Frequency of Recurrent Pancreatitis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMN) of the pancreas are characterized by proliferation of mucin-secreting cells in the main pancreatic duct (PD) or its branches. The secreted thick mucin usually leads to PD obstruction and dilation.

A Serous Cystic Neoplasm of the Pancreas Coexisting with High-Grade Pancreatic Intraepithelial Neoplasia Mimicking an Intraepithelial Papillary Mucinous Neoplasm: A Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Oncology, 2017
Serous cystic neoplasms of the pancreas are rare exocrine pancreatic neoplasms, most of which are benign and do not communicate with the pancreatic duct.

Serous cystic neoplasm of the pancreas: A multinational study of 2622 patients under the auspices of the International Association of Pancreatology and European Pancreatic Club (European Study Group on Cystic Tumors of the Pancreas) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
OBJECTIVES: Serous cystic neoplasm (SCN) is a cystic neoplasm of the pancreas whose natural history is poorly known. The purpose of the study was to attempt to describe the natural history of SCN, including the specific mortality.

The lubricity of mucin solutions is robust toward changes in physiological conditions [PDF]

open access: yesACS Appl. Bio Mater. 2019, 2, 8, 3448-3457, 2019
Solutions of manually purified gastric mucins have been shown to be promising lubricants for biomedical purposes, where they can efficiently reduce friction and wear. However, so far, such mucin solutions have been mostly tested in specific settings, and variations in the composition of the lubricating fluid have not been systematically explored.

Pancreatic tumors imaging: an update [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Currently, ultrasound (US), computed tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance imaging (MRI) represent the mainstay in the evaluation of pancreatic solid and cystic tumors affecting pancreas in 80-85% and 10-15% of the cases respectively. Integration of US,
