UV‐C Inactivation of Target Bacteria and Fungi Screened via Selenium‐Sand Melon Surface Metagenomics With Modeling of Fungal Inactivation Kinetics

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2026.
We investigated microbial community structure of selenium sand melon (SSJ) inNingxia. We found that UV‐C had significant inactivation effect on many microorganisms in SSJ. The SWeibull2 model was the best fit to the fungal inactivation curve by fitting a variety of models.

Polycistronic Expression System for Pichia pastoris Composed of Chitino- and Chitosanolytic Enzymes

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2021
Chitin is one of the most abundant biopolymers. Due to its recalcitrant nature and insolubility in accessible solvents, it is often considered waste and not a bioresource. The products of chitin modification such as chitosan and chitooligosaccharides are

Improved γ-linolenic acid production in Mucor circinelloides by homologous overexpressing of delta-12 and delta-6 desaturases

open access: yesMicrobial Cell Factories, 2017
Background γ-Linolenic acid (GLA) is important because of its nutritional value and medicinal applications. Although the biosynthetic pathways of some plant and microbial GLA have been deciphered, current understanding of the correlation between ...

Metagenomic Profiling and Genome‐Centric Analysis Reveal Iron Acquisition Systems in Cheese‐Associated Bacteria and Fungi

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology, Volume 27, Issue 12, December 2025.
This study describes the diversity of iron acquisition systems in cheese microorganisms and provides information on the distribution of siderophore biosynthesis pathways in both bacteria and fungi, including poorly characterised species. ABSTRACT Cheese microbial communities are composed of diverse interacting microorganisms, including both inoculated ...
