Introducing Borsantrazole: A Trifunctional Boron‐Based Pyrazole That Extends the Lifespan of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Herein we report a boron‐based pyrazole, (Borsantrazole ‐ a small molecule that selectively targets oxidative stress) that significantly increases survival, reduces weight loss, delays disease onset, and affects global protein changes in the SOD1‐G37R mouse model of ALS.

Oral Lovastatin Attenuates Airway Inflammation and Mucus Secretion in Ovalbumin-Induced Murine Model of Asthma

open access: yesAllergy Asthma and Immunology Research, 2014
Purpose Lovastatin is an effective inhibitor of cholesterol synthesis. A previous study demonstrated that lovastatin can also suppress airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR) in murine model of asthma.

Inhalable ROS‐Responsive Nanospray Activates PPAR‐γ to Restore Macrophage Mitochondrial Homeostasis and Attenuate Radiation‐Induced Lung Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A nebulized nanoassembly alleviates radiation‐induced lung injury by reprogramming macrophages through coordinated ROS scavenging, NAD+ replenishment, and PPAR‐γ activation. Redox balance, mitochondrial homeostasis, and immune regulation are restored, revealing a microenvironment‐centered strategy for localized radioprotection.

Multiscale Coupling From Mastication to Retronasal Aroma Perception: The PG‐DTCFN Model and Multiphysics Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using grilled lamb skewers as a model system, this work builds a multiscale coupling framework from oral processing to retronasal aroma perception, reveals dual‐kinetic release patterns and Electroencephalogram‐characterized central encoding features, and proposes an interpretable physics‐guided deep learning model validated by multiphysics simulation,

Autophagy Protects against Colitis by the Maintenance of Normal Gut Microflora and Secretion of Mucus*

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2015
Background: The role of autophagy in colonic homeostasis is not clear. Results: Colonic epithelial cell-specific and autophagy-deficient mice showed exacerbation of colitis and abnormal gut microflora with less abundant antimicrobial peptide production ...

Probiotic‐Derived Vesicles Rectally Delivered via Thermo‐Gelling Copolymer Promote Mucosal Healing and Reduce Inflammation in Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A thermo‐responsive rectal delivery platform integrating probiotic‐derived extracellular vesicles within a hyaluronic acid‐based copolymer enables localized and sustained therapy for ulcerative colitis. The formulation effectively suppresses inflammation, promotes macrophage polarization toward a regenerative phenotype, restores epithelial barrier ...

Hollow Cu2O Nanozymes Enhance Probiotic Therapy for Colitis via Redox Homeostasis and TXNIP/NLRP3 Inflammasome Inhibition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hollow cuprous oxide (H‐Cu2O) nanozymes feature enlarged catalytic surfaces for superior reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging. By efficiently neutralizing mucosal ROS, H‐Cu2O directly suppresses the TXNIP/NLRP3 inflammasome axis and restores intestinal epithelial barrier integrity.

Neutrophil elastase promotes mucin secretion in airway epithelial cells through the MARCKS/ACK1/cortactin pathway

open access: yesCentral European Journal of Immunology
Introduction Excessive mucus secretion in airway epithelial cells is a hallmark of various airway inflammatory diseases. Neutrophil elastase (NE) is a recognized inducer of mucus secretion, yet the precise mechanisms underlying this process remain ...
