[Airway hyperresponsiveness and mucus secretion].
Nihon Kyobu Shikkan Gakkai zasshi, 1991A large amount of mucus and mucoid impaction are observed in the autopsied lungs of bronchial asthmatics. It is possible that mucus hypersecretion and accumulation of intrabronchial mucus result in bronchial obstruction and structural bronchial hyperresponsiveness. Bronchial gland plays a main role in human airway secretion.

The control of airway mucus secretion.
European journal of respiratory diseases. Supplement, 1988Airway mucus is essential for the effectiveness of cough and mucociliary transport. Even the resting airway produces some mucus but, under a great variety of threats to airway function, this production increases. A number of mechanisms may be responsible for augmenting secretion; these include reflexes, initiated by nervous receptors in the airways ...

The mechanism of mucus secretion by the gallbladder epithelium.
British journal of experimental pathology, 1981The mucus secretory granules in the chief cells of the gallbladder epithelium have been studied. The volume density of the mucus secretory granules were 0.6±0.2%, 1.5±0.4% and 1.1±0.4% in normal fasting rabbits, mice and guinea pigs respectively. Electron microscopic observations suggested that these granules were released from the epithelial cells by ...
