Mueller Matrix Polarimetric Imaging Analysis of Optical Components for the Generation of Cylindrical Vector Beams

open access: yesCrystals, 2020
In this work, we performed a Mueller matrix imaging analysis of two commercial optical components usually employed to generate and manipulate vector beams—a radial polarizer and a liquid-crystal q-plate.

Polarization properties of real aluminum mirrors; I. Influence of the aluminum oxide layer

open access: yes, 2009
In polarimetry it is important to characterize the polarization properties of the instrument itself to disentangle real astrophysical signals from instrumental effects.

A zero-dimensional model for high-energy scattering in QCD [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We investigate a zero-dimensional toy model originally introduced by Mueller and Salam which mimics high-energy scattering in QCD in the presence of both gluon saturation and gluon number fluctuations, and hence of Pomeron loops.

Acute and Chronic Toxicity of Sediments Containing Platinum and Palladium on Freshwater Benthic Organisms Chironomus riparius and Hyalella azteca

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The expanding demand for platinum group elements (PGEs) in industrial and medical applications has led to their increasing accumulation in aquatic sediments. However, their ecological impacts remain poorly understood, particularly for sediment‐dwelling invertebrates. This study assessed the toxicity of platinum (Pt) and palladium (Pd) across a

Unpacking early risks for peer victimization: A network analysis of early temperament and polygenic risk scores

open access: yesJCPP Advances, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Children who show difficult temperament are at risk of peer victimisation, which in turn associates with numerous negative outcomes later in life. We used network analysis to examine whether specific aspects of difficult temperament contributed to these associations, and whether the links were moderated by variations in genetic ...

Assessing the intensity of Late Quaternary humid phases in the Nefud Desert, northern Arabia

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The climate history of the major dryland zones of the world, such as the Saharo–Arabian Desert belt, plays a key role in the dispersal of early humans through these intermittently inhospitable regions. Here, we assess the relative intensity of Late Quaternary humid phases in northern Arabia through lithological, geochemical, palaeoecological ...

How Does Entrepreneurs' Grit Predict Effectual Decision‐Making?

open access: yesStrategic Change, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Entrepreneurs' grit is one of the most relevant predictors of new venture performance. We investigate whether the “stubbornness” of entrepreneurs' grit negatively relates to their effectual decision‐making abilities. Understanding the underlying mechanisms is relevant because the effectual decision‐making abilities of founders are crucial for ...

Biodegradable HPMC–chitosan film for moisture retention and quality preservation in fresh‐cut mango

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND Replacing conventional plastics with biodegradable solutions that control moisture loss in fresh‐cut produce is a strategic need. This study developed hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) and chitosan (CS) films plasticised with glycerol (Gly) and evaluated their use as sealing lids for fresh‐cut mango. RESULTS The selected monolayer

Vocal Fold Scar Treatment via Controlled Dexamethasone Delivery With a Light‐Activatable Implant

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, EarlyView.
A light‐activatable dexamethasone implant was employed for the treatment of vocal fold (VF) scarring in a rabbit model. The implant enables controlled, repeatable drug release via near‐infrared laser irradiation, improving biomechanics, vibratory function, and histological architecture at the injury site.
