From a nondepolarizing Mueller matrix to a depolarizing Mueller matrix

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2014
The depolarizing properties of a generic Mueller matrix are synthesized from a corresponding nondepolarizing reference Mueller matrix, which is appropriately factorized and transformed by sequentially adjusting the values of three indices of polarimetric purity (IPP) [Opt. Commun.284, 38 (2011)OPCOB80030-4018].

Comparison of different calibration methods for Mueller matrix microscopy of cells.

Applied Optics, 2021
Mueller matrix (MM) imaging has demonstrated its potential application in much research, especially in probing delicate and complex biomedical specimens. Qualities of MM images are important for further quantitative characterization.

Mueller matrix microscopic ellipsometer

Optics Communications, 2013
Abstract We propose a Mueller matrix ellipsometer based on imaging of the exit pupil of a microscope objective lens. The instrument had a polarizer and a rotating phase retarder on the polarizing arm and a polarizer (analyzer) on the analyzing arm. A vector F representing the optical effect from the objective lens to the detector was obtained by ...

Introduction of a 3 × 4 Mueller matrix decomposition method

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 2021
A Mueller matrix can completely characterize the polarimetric properties of a medium, where the parameters of depolarization, retardance and diattenuation can be obtained by decomposing a Mueller matrix with existing decomposition methods.

Mueller-matrix characterization of liquid crystals

Thin Solid Films, 2004
Abstract Generalized spectroscopic ellipsometry (g-SE) has been applied to many anisotropic materials. This measurement is based on the 2×2 Jones matrix sample representation, which is often sufficient. However, when the reflected or transmitted light becomes sufficiently depolarized, the Mueller-matrix (MM) representation may be required for ...

Parameterization of the Mueller matrix

Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2016
A deterministic Mueller matrix (Mueller-Jones matrix) contains seven independent parameters. By writing the so-called coherence vector in parametric form, the Mueller matrix can also be written in parametric form, where the matrix elements automatically satisfy the known relationships between each other.

Back-focal plane Mueller matrix microscopy: Mueller conoscopy and Mueller diffractrometry

Applied Surface Science, 2017
Abstract The common mode of observation in an imaging Mueller matrix polarimeter is orthoscopic observation, where the front focal plane of the objective is focused onto the camera sensor. Different points on the camera sensor correspond to different points on the sample.
