Mueller matrix polarimetry for improved liver fibrosis diagnosis [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2012
An experimental Mueller matrix polarimeter is used to quantify human liver fibrosis by measuring retardance and depolarization of thin biopsies. The former parameter is sensitive to fibrillar collagen, the latter is specifically sensitive to fibrillar collagen around blood vessels, which is not significant for liver fibrosis diagnosis.

Spatially Addressable Polarimetric Calibration of Reflective-Type Spatial Light Modulator Using Mueller–Stokes Polarimetry

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2021
Mueller–Stokes polarimetry is emerging as a prominent noninvasive imaging technique to study the structural characteristics of an anisotropic medium. Spatial light modulator (SLM) is a programmable liquid crystal device (LCD), which is used to modulate ...

Experimental Mueller matrix polarimetry with full Poincaré beams and a CCD camera [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2021
Recently, the use of full Poincaré beams for extracting the Mueller matrix of a sample has been proposed. These beams present all possible polarization states across their transverse section.

Polarimetric approach for well-defined impurities detection in isotropic materials [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the European Optical Society-Rapid Publications, 2014
In this paper, a new kind of approach to reveal the presence of well-defined impurities in isotropic materials is proposed and verified against actual measurements over real samples. The rationale lies in the different polarimetric symmetry properties of

Synthetic Mueller Imaging Polarimetry

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
The transformation of the state of polarization of a light beam via its linear interaction with a material medium can be modeled through the Stokes–Mueller formalism.

Time-resolved Mueller matrix imaging polarimetry

open access: yesOptics Express, 2004
We present a new method of time-resolved Mueller matrix imaging polarimetry for spatial and temporal characterization of the polarization effects in backscattering from turbid media. The technique allows measuring the time evolution of spatially varying polarization patterns of diffusely backscattered light with picosecond resolution.

Computer Algorithms for Detecting Polarization Maps for Polymer Homogeneity Control in Printing Industry

open access: yesТехнологія і техніка друкарства, 2022
This scientific paper presents, in a concise and systematic way, new results for traditional laser polarization introspection methods of investigating the polycrystalline architectonics of phase-inhomogeneous polymer layers, which, in addition to linear

Physical Significance of the Determinant of a Mueller Matrix

open access: yesPhotonics, 2022
The determinant of a Mueller matrix M plays an important role in both polarization algebra and the interpretation of polarimetric measurements. While certain physical quantities encoded in M admit a direct interpretation, the understanding of the ...

Mueller matrix polarimetry using full Poincaré beams

open access: yesOptics and Lasers in Engineering, 2019
Full Poincaré beams (FPBs) are proposed for polarimetric applications. Such beams present all states of totally polarized light across their transverse section at once and therefore can be considered as parallel polarization state generators. A simple setup, including a FPB as input light, has been designed and implemented to measure the Mueller matrix
