As a result of the successful acclimatization in the Azov basin, haarder Liza haematocheila has become a commercial species and is currently among the main commercial items. Its reproduction in the new range takes place in environmental conditions strongly differing in the salinity level (3–24‰), which determined its population differentiation.

The response of early juveniles of the haarder Liza haematocheila (= Mugil soiuy) to changes of water salinity, and the growth and survival of larvae in water of different levels of salinity were studied. The capacity of adaptation of the larvae of the haarder to fresh water is manifested at early ages.

This study examines the complex diadromous movements in pinkeye mullet (Trachystoma petardi) of south-eastern Australia. The techniques used to study these movements included LA-ICP-MS single line ablation transects and microchemical imaging as well as preliminary acoustic telemetry results which were used to aid in interpretation of chemical ...

The introduction of Far Eastern mullet (pilengas) in the Azov Sea in the 1970s-1980s has resulted in the formation of a self-reproducing commercial population. We have carried out a comparative population-genetic analysis of the mullet from the native (Primorye, the Sea of Japan basin) and the new (The Azov Sea basin) ranges. Genetic characteristics of
