Lipids of mulberry leaves and of mulberry silkworm excreta

Chemistry of Natural Compounds, 1987
The composition and the amounts of various groups of liposoluble compounds in mulberry leaves and the excreta of the silkworm have been established by chromatographic and chemical methods. It has been shown that biologically valuable components — phytosterols, unsaturated fatty acids, phytol, carotenoids, and chlorophylls — are concentrated in silkworm

Localization of mucilaginous polysaccharides in mulberry leaves

Protoplasma, 2008
Mulberry tree leaves were shown to have mucilaginous polysaccharides. The extracted water-soluble mucilage was separated into three fractions via a cetylpyridinum chloride complex and purified by anion-exchange chromatography. Five acidic polysaccharides were separated from these fractions, one of which was a major polysaccharide (Mp-3) that was ...

Ultrasound-assisted extraction of polysaccharides from mulberry leaves

Food Chemistry, 2011
Ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE) of polysaccharides from mulberry leaves was studied. The effects of four factors on the yield of polysaccharides were investigated. The results showed that optimum conditions were extraction power of 60W, extraction temperature of 60°C, extraction time of 20min and ratio of water to raw material of 15:1 (ml/g).

Microwave-assisted extraction of polysaccharides from mulberry leaves

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2015
In this study, microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) of polysaccharides from mulberry leaves was investigated using response surface methodology (RSM). The effects of three extraction factors on the yield of polysaccharides was examined. The results showed that optimum extraction conditions were determined as follows: weight of the sample of 20 g ...

Identification of an antiamyloidogenic substance from mulberry leaves

NeuroReport, 2009
Fibrillar aggregates of amyloid beta-peptides are major constituents of the plaques found in the brains of patients with Alzheimer's disease, and have been implicated in the neurotoxicity of Alzheimer's. We previously reported that the methanol extract of mulberry leaves inhibits the formation of amyloid beta-peptide (1-42)-fibrils in vitro, and ...

Phytochemistry, bioactivities and future prospects of mulberry leaves: A review

Food Chemistry, 2022
Mulberry leaves (MLs) have been used traditionally to raise silkworms and as herbs and herbal drinks. In vitro and in vivo studies as well as some clinical trials provide some evidence of health benefits, mostly for ML extracts. ML extracts showed antioxidant, hypoglycemic, anticholesterol (affecting lipid metabolism), antiobesity, anti-inflammatory ...

Sterols of Mulberry Leaves and Small Leaf Curl Disease

Applied Biochemistry and Microbiology, 2005
Free and bound sterols of leaves of five mulberry cultivars differing in their susceptibility to small leaf curl disease have been studied. The total content of sterols in all samples is similar and is not correlated with the resistance of the cultivars. The qualitative composition of particular sterols is also identical.

Structural features of a pectic polysaccharide from mulberry leaves

Journal of Asian Natural Products Research, 2008
A pectic polysaccharide SDA was obtained from the boiling water extract of mulberry leaves. It consisted of rhamnose, arabinose, xylose, glucose, galactose, and galacturonic acid units in the molar ratio of 5:4:1:2:6:38. Its molecular weight was determined to be 1.5 x 10(4) by high-performance gel filtration chromatography.

EFFECT OF MULBERRY SILKWORM FEEDING ON DISEASED MULBERRY LEAVES ON WORM VIABILITY AND COCOON PRODUCTIVITY

European International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research and Management Studies, 2022
In the case of rearing silkworm caterpillars, the caterpillar does not feed well with infected leaves, which leads to a decrease in the number of cocoons (73-76%) during the transition by instars, the larval stage lasts, the extension of the fifth instar compared to the growth options (89%).
