3D printing of ceramics: Advantages, challenges, applications, and perspectives

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 107, Issue 12, Page 7879-7920, December 2024.
Abstract 3D printing (3DP) technologies have transformed the processing of advanced ceramics for small‐scale and custom designs during the past three decades. Simple and complex parts are designed and manufactured using 3DP technologies for structural, piezoelectric, and biomedical applications.

Matrix compositions and their impact on grain growth and strength of oxide ceramic composites

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 107, Issue 12, Page 8442-8458, December 2024.
Abstract Oxide ceramic matrix composites (Ox‐CMCs) are composed of porous matrices reinforced by dense fibers to achieve high damage tolerance. It is generally assumed that their mechanical properties are fiber dominant. However, fiber strength can also be influenced by the surrounding matrix as it can affect fiber grain growth.

MULLITE AND ITS ISOMORPHIC SUBSTITUTION OVERVIEW

open access: yesКонденсированные среды и межфазные границы, 2018
The phase diagram of SiO2-Al2O3 is considered. The paper presents an overview of the methods of synthesising mullite, including the calcining of natural aluminosilicates, the Czochralski process (synthesising mullite from melt), the Verneuil process ...

Use of Mullite Whiskers for Aluminium Matrix Composites

open access: yesMaterials Transactions, JIM, 1993
A process for the synthesis of mullite whiskers by firing a mixture of kaolinite, aluminium fluorite and graphite is obtained. The mullite whiskers have bar like form with average width ranging from 0.05 to 3 μm and aspect ratio of about 20. The reinforcement with mullite whiskers results in drastical improvement in wear resistance of aluminium alloy ...

Strength Increase of Alumina Foams by a Sodium Aluminosilicate Glass Coating with Subsequent Na+ ↔ K+ Ion Exchange (Gorilla Glass Coating)

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 26, Issue 18, September 2024.
Alumina replica foams are coated with sodium aluminosilicate glass using a simple dip‐coating approach with an aqueous precursor. The selected glass composition is suitable for a Na+ ↔ K+ ion exchange, which is expected to increase the strength of the glass coating.

Helicobacter pylori infection in psoriatic patients and its relation to psoriasis severity: Cross Sectional Study

open access: yesSkin Research and Technology, Volume 30, Issue 8, August 2024.
Abstract Background Psoriasis is a prevalent inflammatory skin condition that can be recognized by silvery‐white scales on plaques and erythematous papules, despite the fact that psoriasis appears to have multiple causes. Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) has been investigated recently as a potential infectious etiological component.

Feasilibilty of coal combustion by-products inertization for carbon capture and storage: the case for high-Ca fly ashes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
High Calcium Fly Ashes are reactive materials that often do not meet the limits of the standards. Therefore, most of the quantity produced annually in the world, due to lignite burning, remains unexploited and charges the environment.

Glass-ceramic glazes for ceramic tiles – a review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Glass-ceramics are ceramic materials produced through controlled crystallisation (nucleation and crystal growth) of a parent glass. The great variety of compositions and the possibility of developing special microstructures with specific technological ...
