Abstract Oxide ceramic matrix composites (Ox‐CMCs) are composed of porous matrices reinforced by dense fibers to achieve high damage tolerance. It is generally assumed that their mechanical properties are fiber dominant. However, fiber strength can also be influenced by the surrounding matrix as it can affect fiber grain growth.

Use of Mullite Whiskers for Aluminium Matrix Composites

Alumina replica foams are coated with sodium aluminosilicate glass using a simple dip‐coating approach with an aqueous precursor. The selected glass composition is suitable for a Na+ ↔ K+ ion exchange, which is expected to increase the strength of the glass coating.

Mechanical Properties of Mullite-SiC Whisker Composites

Mechanical properties of hot-pressed mullite-SiC whisker composites were studied in relation to the whisker content and chemical composition of matrix. Grain growth of mullite was suppressed by the existence of SiC whisker in the matrix, but the densification was not inhibited by the loading of whisker up to 30 vol%.

Efficacy of far infrared functional glasses in the treatment of meibomian gland dysfunction‐related dry eye

In this clinical trial, 61 patients with MGD‐related DED wore FIR‐functional eyeglasses throughout the day and underwent a comprehensive eye assessment at the trial's end. Significant improvements were observed in the symptoms, clinical signs, and meibomian gland function of patients with MGD‐related DED.
