Multi-Aperture 3D Imaging Systems

2008 IEEE Aerospace Conference, 2008
With a multi-aperture imaging system, one creates a large imaging aperture by combining the light from a series of distributed telescopes. In doing this, one can construct a fine-resolution imaging system with reduced volume. We present work on multi-aperture, active imaging systems that use coherent detection and digital image formation.

Towards an ultrathin multi-aperture microscope

Imaging, Manipulation, and Analysis of Biomolecules, Cells, and Tissues XVIII, 2020
Recent biomedical developments towards compact, mobile, decentralized and system-integrated diagnostic platforms require automated and miniaturized microscopy technologies. Reducing system dimensions by downsizing classical single aperture optics limits either the field of view (FOV) or resolution. However, arranging multiple miniaturized objectives in

Ultra-Thin Multi-Aperture LWIR Imagers

Frontiers in Optics, 2006
We design and implement an ultra-thin LWIR camera by replacing the conventional lens system with a micro-lens array. The resulting low resolution images can be used to reconstruct a high resolution image by post processing.

A Multi-Aperture Cryogenic Storage Cell

Journal of Applied Physics, 1968
Two types of superconducting memory cells are now being considered: the continuous-film memory and cryotron-switched storage loops. The former suffer from low cell operating range compared to cell-to-cell variation. The cryotron cells, although having a wider operating range, must be switched very rapidly to have a detectable output signal.

Multi-aperture high-speed CMOS imager

2013 International Conference on QiR, 2013
To achieve ultra-high-speed image sensing faster than 1-giga frames per second, a multi-aperture high-speed imager is proposed. In this paper, the architecture of the imager and a design of digital circuits are presented. Basic operations of the digital circuits are verified by a fast SPICE simulator, NanoSim by Synopsys.

Fourier Multi-Aperture Emission Tomography (FMET)

IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science, 1980
(1-9) for achieving tomographic images of distri butions of nonpositron-emitting radionuclides have been suggested. These techniques have had only a modest clinical success. We present here an ap proach that attempts to overcome one of the prim cipal problems associated with techniques in which the detector does not lie in the tomographic plane ...

Active multi-aperture imaging through turbulence

SPIE Proceedings, 2012
We describe our Innovative Multi Aperture Gimbaless Electro-Optical (IMAGE) testbed which uses coherent detection of the complex field reflected off a diffuse target with seven hexagonally arranged apertures. The seven measured optical fields are then phased with a digital optimization algorithm to synthesize a composite image whose angular ...

Performance Metrics for Multi-aperture Computational Imaging Sensor

Frontiers in Optics, 2005
Determining the effective MTF, SNR and Sensor geometries of multi-aperture computational imaging architectures will allow the National Image Interpretability Rating Scale to be applied to computational imagers. An approach for determining these values is described.

Multi-aperture imaging and its application

2015 14th Workshop on Information Optics (WIO), 2015
Multi-aperture imaging provides a variety of modalities in object observation. A compound-eye camera called TOMBO is an effective platform for computational imaging based on multi-aperture imaging. As an example of medical application, a TOMBO imaging system was applied to 3D shape measurement of teeth and gingivae and to estimation of gingival tissue ...

Multi-aperture anomaly detector for clutter background

2016 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2016
Without priori information, anomaly detector has more important utility compared with supervised target detection. Many classical anomaly detectors have obtained perfect performance in many situations. However, there still have two problems which are correlated with accuracy of anomaly detector.
