Comparison of intelligent charging algorithms for electric vehicles to reduce peak load and demand variability in a distribution grid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A potential breakthrough of the electrification of the vehicle fleet will incur a steep rise in the load on the electrical power grid. To avoid huge grid investments, coordinated charging of those vehicles is a must.

An ME-SMIB Based Method for Online Transient Stability Assessment of a Multi-Area Interconnected Power System

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Transient stability assessment (TSA) of the power system is essential to the safe operation of the power grid. The TSA of the multi-area interconnected power system is a challenging task due to its special multi-area power grid structure.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

PID controller adjustment for MA-LFC by using imperialist competitive algorithm [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper a new evolutionary computing method based on Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA) is used for tuning the elements of a PID controller which is applied in a Multi Area Load Frequency Control System (MA-LFC).

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Optimal AGC with redox flow batteries in multi-area restructured power systems

open access: yesEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal, 2016
This paper attempts to investigate the effect of Redox flow batteries (RFB) in Automatic Generation Control (AGC) of multi-area restructured power systems. Initially, a two-area restructured thermal power system is investigated. For the analysis, optimal

Multi-port Memory Design for Advanced Computer Architectures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this thesis, we describe and evaluate novel memory designs for multi-port on-chip and off-chip use in advanced computer architectures. We focus on combining multi-porting and evaluating the performance over a range of design parameters.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...
