Dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) regulates trophoblast syncytialization through organelle stress–induced cellular senescence

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The inhibition of mitochondrial dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) impairs syncytialization and induces cellular senescence via mitochondrial and endoplasmic reticulum stress in human trophoblast stem cells, elevating sFlt1/PlGF levels, a hallmark of placental dysfunction in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy.

A Multiband Dual Linear-to-Circular Polarization Conversion Reflective Metasurface Design Based on Liquid Crystal for X-Band Applications

open access: yesApplied Sciences
A novel reflective metasurface (RMS) is proposed in this paper. The MS measures 128 × 128 × 2.794 mm3 and consists of a six-layer vertically stacked structure, with a liquid crystal (LC) cavity in the middle layer.

Multi-Band Intra-Night Optical Variability of BL Lacertae

open access: yes, 2017
We monitored BL Lacertae frequently during 2014 - 2016 when it was generally in a high state. We searched for intra-day variability for 43 nights using quasi-simultaneous measurements in the B, V, R, and I bands (totaling 143 light curves); the typical ...

Applicability of mitotic figure counting by deep learning: a development and pan‐cancer validation study

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...

An Ultra-Wide Band Radome for High-Performance and Dual-Polarized Radar and Communication Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
This paper presents a new design technique to develop a multi-layer radome for ultra-wide-band, dual-polarized radar and communication systems. In the proposed technique, a multi-layer radome is designed using a combination of A-sandwich structures ...

A Method for Individual Source Brightness Estimation in Single- and Multi-band Data

open access: yes, 2010
We present a method of reliably extracting the flux of individual sources from sky maps in the presence of noise and a source population in which number counts are a steeply falling function of flux.

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status
