Topological Charge Switch in Active Multi‐Core Fibers
Annalen der Physik, 2021AbstractTopological properties can make light field remarkably robust to various external perturbations. The ability to control and change on demand topological characteristics of light paves the way to new interesting physical phenomena and applications.

Interferometric Fiber-Optic Gyroscope Using Multi-Core Fiber
Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2019We proposed a novel interferometric fiber optic gyro (I-FOG) sensor coil consisting of multi-core fiber (MCF) spliced with fan-in/fan-out (FIFO) devices. We fabricated a 102-m long, seven-core MCF coil with FIFO devices and demonstrated the operation of the proposed I-FOG for the first time to our knowledge. The angular random walk performance of 0.002

Interferometric Fiber-Optic Gyroscope Using Multi-Core Fiber
2018 European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC), 2018A novel configuration of an optical gyroscope which consists of multi-core fiber (MCF) and fan-in/fan-out devices is proposed. We fabricated the sensor coil by using seven-core fibers and successfully demonstrated an MCF gyroscope for the first time to our knowledge.

Recent progress on multi-core fiber
2012 17th Opto-Electronics and Communications Conference, 2012Potential of uncoupled multi-core fiber (MCF) is investigated with viewpoints of space utilization efficiency and the figure of merit (FOM). The impact of longitudinal optical coupling characterization and/or management is discussed using a dual-core fiber.

Multi-core Fiber Design and Analysis
37th European Conference and Exposition on Optical Communications, 2011Impacts of random phase offset in coupled-mode theory and autocorrelation function in coupled-power theory on crosstalk of multi-core fibers are investigated for the first time. Simulation results are in good agreement with measurement results.

Field-Deployed Multi-Core Fiber Testbed
2019 24th OptoElectronics and Communications Conference (OECC) and 2019 International Conference on Photonics in Switching and Computing (PSC), 2019We installed a multi-core fiber (MCF) cable in underground tunnels in a city in Italy, without significant crosstalk degradation in uncoupled MCFs, and with the lowest-ever spatial mode dispersion in randomly-coupled MCFs.

High-Power, All-Fiber, Yb-Doped Multi-Core Fiber Amplifier
Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2022We have demonstrated a 173 W, all-fiber multicore amplifier using a six-core single-mode Yb-doped fiber and an all-fiber multi-core pump-signal combiner. Each of Yb-doped cores has 17-µm mode-field diameter and is capable of kW-class operation.

High capacity multi-core fiber systems
2016 21st European Conference on Networks and Optical Communications (NOC), 2016We review progress on high-capacity multi-core fiber systems based on homogeneous, single mode MCF and focus on the limits of high capacity transmission. We discuss issues of inter-core crosstalk, dynamic inter-core skew and their impact on multi-core fiber systems such as pilot-tone transmission and high-dimensional modulation formats.
