$\alpha$-Discounting Multi-Criteria Decision Making ($\alpha$-D MCDM)

open access: yesCoRR, 2010
In this book we introduce a new procedure called \alpha-Discounting Method for Multi-Criteria Decision Making (\alpha-D MCDM), which is as an alternative and extension of Saaty Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). It works for any number of preferences that can be transformed into a system of homogeneous linear equations.

Environmental, Social and Governance Strategies for Sustainable Development Goal 3: Enhancing Health and Social Wellbeing

open access: yesSustainable Development, Volume 34, Issue 3, Page 3865-3879, June 2026.
ABSTRACT The discourse on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies is growing, yet its ability to meaningfully advance health and social wellbeing (H&SW) in line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 3) remains under‐examined. Existing studies assume that ESG automatically strengthens SDG 3 outcomes, yet how the Governance

The Choquet integral for the aggregation of interval scales in multicriteria decision making [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper addresses the question of which models fit with information concerning the preferences of the decision maker over each attribute, and his preferences about aggregation of criteria (interacting criteria).

Environmental Quality Index of Urban Forest Remnants From Soil Analysis and Leaf Area Index, in Campinas – Brazil

open access: yesEnvironmental Quality Management, Volume 35, Issue 4, Summer 2026.
ABSTRACT Assessing soil quality in forest fragments is crucial for understanding ecosystem dynamics and guiding conservation strategies. This study evaluates soil properties (0–0.20m) and leaf area index (LAI) using principal component analysis (PCA) and the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) to identify key indicators of soil environmental quality ...

A Decision‐Support Roadmap for Landfill Site Selection: Insights From a Systematic Review and Applications in Brazil

open access: yesEnvironmental Quality Management, Volume 35, Issue 4, Summer 2026.
ABSTRACT The rapid growth of municipal solid waste generation, particularly in emerging economies, has intensified environmental and public health challenges associated with inadequate final disposal. Although sanitary landfills remain the most widely adopted solution, inappropriate site selection can result in long‐term environmental degradation and ...

Evaluation of the WRF‐ARW Model Physical Parameterization Schemes for Heavy Flood Events Over Bushehr‐Province of Iran

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract This study evaluates the performance of different WRF model configurations in simulating all 19 heavy precipitation events over Bushehr Province, Iran, over two decades (2000–2019). For the first time, the sensitivity of combinations of three physical parameterization options—seven cumulus (Cu) schemes, three planetary boundary layer (PBL ...

Integration Modes Between MCDM Methods and Machine Learning Algorithms: A Structured Approach for Framework Development

open access: yesMathematics
Decision-making is increasingly guided by the integration of Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) and Machine Learning (ML) approaches. Despite their complementary strengths, the literature lacks clarity on which forms of integration exist, what ...

Performance Evaluation of Automated Flood Inundation Mapping Techniques Using Multi‐Temporal Sentinel‐1 SAR Data

open access: yesJournal of Flood Risk Management, Volume 19, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT In recent times, the development of algorithms to delineate water surface maps has significantly boosted flood monitoring and mitigation efforts by utilizing dual polarization, multi‐temporal Sentinel‐1 synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data. The Sentinel‐1 mission, with its global land monitoring capability, has been widely employed for SAR ...

Flood Hazard Mapping in a Data‐Scarce Urban Watershed Using Analytical Hierarchy Process and Fuzzy Logic: A Case Study of Cuttack, India

open access: yesJournal of Flood Risk Management, Volume 19, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Floods are among the most frequent and damaging natural hazards in India, particularly affecting low‐lying urban areas in the eastern regions such as Cuttack, Odisha. This study aims to develop a flood hazard susceptibility map for the Cuttack district in Odisha, India, using a combined Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and fuzzy logic ...
