Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Scaling a Multi-dimensional Organization Horizontally
Customers of multinational enterprises (MNEs) exist almost everywhere. Cross border B2C e-commerce is expected to double by 2022 according to Forrester Research. How do MNE’s efficiently leverage their product portfolios across geographic markets? This is called horizontalization.

Wavevector anisotropy of plasma turbulence at ion kinetic scales: solar wind observations and hybrid simulations [PDF]
Wavevector anisotropy of ion-scale plasma turbulence is studied at various values of ion beta. Two complementary methods are used. One is multi-point measurements of magnetic field in the near-Earth solar wind as provided by the Cluster spacecraft ...

Hydrostatic pressure activates HIF‐1α via β‐catenin to promote stemness in breast cancer cells
To mimic the elevated intestinal fluid pressure in breast cancers, we loaded human breast cancer cells (MCF‐7, MDA‐MB‐453, and BT‐474) to 50 mmHg hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure exposure upregulated HIF‐1α and induced stemness in MCF‐7 and BT‐474 cells.

Does multi-way, long-range chromatin contact data advance 3D genome reconstruction?
Background Methods for inferring the three-dimensional (3D) configuration of chromatin from conformation capture assays that provide strictly pairwise interactions, notably Hi-C, utilize the attendant contact matrix as input.

Full-Vectorial Three-Dimensional Microwave Imaging Through the Iterative Multi-Scaling Strategy: a Preliminary Assessment [PDF]
In this paper, a multi-scaling strategy for full-vectorial three-dimensional inverse scattering problems is presented. The approach is fully iterative and it avoids solving any forward problem at each step.
