Assessment of the Governance System Regarding Adoption of Energy Efficient Appliances by Households in Nigeria

open access: yesEnergies, 2017
The adoption of energy efficient electrical appliances by households has a great potential to reduce electricity consumption in Nigeria. A well-formulated and implemented policy (mix) to spur adoption is said to be required to drive this process.

Intelligent Energy Management of Electrical Power Systems

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Smart grid implementation is facilitated by multi-source energy systems development, i.e., microgrids, which are considered the key smart grid building blocks. Whether they are alternative current (AC) or direct current (DC), high voltage or low voltage,

Pathways toward a Decarbonized Future—Impact on Security of Supply and System Stability in a Sustainable German Energy System

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Pathways leading to a carbon neutral future for the German energy system have to deal with the expected phase-out of coal-fired power generation, in addition to the shutdown of nuclear power plants and the rapid ramp-up of photovoltaics and wind power ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Restarting control of free-running interior permanent magnet synchronous motor under position sensorless control

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal
In some practical interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) traction applications, it is essential for the free-running IPMSM to fast and smoothly return to its normal operation after intermittent power interruption.

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Potentials and Barriers of Flexibility Markets for Multi-Energy Systems

open access: yes2023 IEEE Belgrade PowerTech, 2023
Abstract—The paper proposes the assessment of regulatory and market frameworks enabling the flexibility provided by a multi-energy system. Flexibility is increasingly a precious resource for system operators to recover electricity network issues due to uncertainties of renewable generation.
