Planning for innovation: A multi-level perspective
2008Scholars continue to debate whether planning, in fact, contributes to creativity and innovation. In this chapter, we argue that planning is critical to innovation and will contribute to the generation of viable new ideas. Effective planning, however, must be based on an incremental approach involving a viable portfolio of projects.

Rethinking the multi-level perspective of technological transitions
Research Policy, 2008In recent years numerous articles have been published which advocate a multi-level perspective (MLP) for the analysis of long-term technological transitions. This paper reviews current transitions research and considers the limitations of the MLP which need to be addressed to enhance understanding of processes of innovation affecting the transformation

EMOTIONS IN ORGANIZATIONS: A MULTI-LEVEL PERSPECTIVE
2004Recent years have seen an upsurge of interest in the study of emotions in organizations. Technological innovation systems and the multi-level perspective: Towards an integrated framework
Research Policy, 2008Technological innovation systems and the multi-level framework are closely related concepts for the study of far-reaching technological change. They draw on common theoretical roots and analyze similar empirical phenomena. However, they have developed rather independent research strands over the past few years. The paper reviews the state of the art of

ORGANIZATIONAL INNOVATION: A MULTI-LEVEL DECISION-THEORETIC PERSPECTIVE
International Journal of Innovation Management, 2004This paper presents a multi-level decision making perspective of the innovation process. First, by considering the innovation process as a type of decision. Second, by viewing innovation as composed of multiple decision processes. Third, by analyzing innovation in terms of decision domains that "enable" innovation and that "execute" innovation. Fourth,

Clanistics: a multi-level perspective for harvesting unrooted gene trees
Trends in Microbiology, 2010Prokaryotic evolution takes place within and between genomes, when significant amounts of genes are transferred and recombined between interacting genetic partners. These non-tree-like evolutionary processes, intertwined with events of vertical descent, lead to a massive production of unrooted trees in which branches, nodes and groupings have different
