Artificial neural network power system stabilizers in multi-machine power system environment

IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 1995
The effectiveness of an artificial neural network (ANN), functioning as a power system stabilizer (PSS), in damping multi-mode oscillations in a five-machine power system environment is investigated in this paper. Accelerating power of the generating unit is used as the input to the ANN PSS.

Fuzzy Logic based Robust Power System Stabilizer for Multi-Machine Power System

2006 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology, 2006
Power system stabilizers (PSSs) are added to excitation system to enhance the damping during low frequency oscillations. This paper presents a study of fuzzy logic power system stabilizer (PSS) for stability enhancement of a multi-machine power system.

A Multi-machine Power System Installed with Power System Stabilizers

2016
Figure 5.1 shows the configuration of a two-machine power system where two synchronous generators are connected by a transmission line. This simple system is used in this section to demonstrate the procedure of establishing the mathematical model of a multi-machine power system .

An Adaptive Power System Stabilizer for Control of Multi-Machine Power Systems

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2003
Abstract A fast adaptive power system stabilizer which uses an optimal singul- adaptive observer (OSA) is proposed and investigated. The identical direct (non iteratIve) model identification approach have been used which applied to multimachme power system. In this paper, the implementation ofan adaptive PSS on the base of OSA observer m multtmachine

Nonlinear coordinated control of multi-machine power systems

2000 Power Engineering Society Summer Meeting (Cat. No.00CH37134), 2002
This paper presents a novel observer-based nonlinear controller for the coordinated control of generators and thyristor controlled series compensators (TCSCs) in multi-machine power systems. The observer-based nonlinear control is basically on the input/output feedback linearizing control of a nonlinear system but using output feedback and perturbation

Coordinated control of multi-machine interacted power system

2000 IEEE Power Engineering Society Winter Meeting. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.00CH37077), 2002
In a multi-machine power system or decomposed closed sub-system, interaction between the generators should be taken into consideration for the design of the exciter control. It is hard to determine which generators in the system or sub-system and which state variables should be used to get the maximum effect for quieting down the disturbance.

Variable Structure Control of Multi-Machine Power System

1993 American Control Conference, 1993
Modern microprocessor capabilities permit the control designer to consider using relatively complicated nonlinear control algorithms, which would have been considered impractical in the past. The paper presents the results of a study of the variable structure control technique for the design of excitation and governor controllers for a multi machine ...

HPSO algorithm to design power system stabilizer in multi-machine power system

8th International Conference on Power Electronics - ECCE Asia, 2011
In this article, a new evolutionary algorithm presented in order to optimally design stabilizers of multi-machine power system. This article utilizes Hybrid Particle Swarm Optimization (HPSO) technique to search for optimized amounts of power system stabilizer (PSS). The strength of presented method to create initial amounts was proved.

Decentralized Model Reference Adaptive Control of Multi-Machine Power System

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2000
Abstract The researches on decentralised and/or adaptive control of power systems have received a great interest in recent years. In particular, the emphasis of most adaptive approaches towards improved stability has been placed on the utilisation of controller based on single-input/single-output models of single machine systems.

Design of Fuzzy Logic Power System Stabilizer in Multi-machine Power System

2014
The Objective of the Paper is to design and implement Fuzzy logic power system stabilizer in multi-machine power system for reducing Integral Square Time Square Error (ISTSE). In this proposed fuzzy expert system, the generator speed deviation and acceleration are chosen as input signals to fuzzy logic power system stabilizer and the desired output is ...
