Intelligent dual input power system stabilizers for multi-machine system
IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exhibition, 2003This paper deals with the application of intelligent dual input power system stabilizers to a multi-machine system using adaptive network fuzzy inference system (ANFIS). The ANFIS is trained to compute optimum parameters of the dual input power system stabilizer in real-time following variation in loading condition.

Global tuning of power-system stabilizers in multi-machine systems
Electric Power Systems Research, 2001Abstract This paper presents a global tuning procedure for conventional PSSs in a multi-machine power system using a non-linear optimization algorithm implemented in a simulation program. The main objective of this procedure is to simultaneously optimize pre-selected parameters of those PSSs having fixed parameters in coping with the complex non ...

Rule-based stabilizer for multi-machine power system
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1990An application of the rule-based stabilizing control scheme to improve the overall stability of electric power systems is presented. Several simple rules are prepared for each generator in the system. The stabilizing signal for each generator is of the discrete type; it is renewed at every sampling time to control the generator excitation levels ...

Performance of an Adaptive Power System Stabilizer in a Multi-Machine System
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1986Abstract The multi-mode oscillation problem occurs in multi-machine power systems when the rotors of machines, behaving as rigid bodies, oscillate with rcspcct to one another using the electrical transmission path between them to exchange energy [1].

Application of neural adaptive power system stabilizer in a multi-machine power system
IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 1999Application of a neural adaptive power system stabilizer (NAPSS) to a five-machine power system is described in this paper. The proposed NAPSS comprises two subnetworks. The adaptive neuro-identifier (ANI) to dynamically identify the nonlinear plant, and the adaptive neuro-controller (ANC) to damp output oscillations.

Power System Stabilizer and Secondary Voltage Regulator Tuning for Multi-machine Power Systems
Electric Power Components and Systems, 2012Abstract This article aims to present the performance of a B-spline neural network scheme for tuning both the reactive power provision controller from synchronous machines and power system stabilizers in multi-machine power systems. The B-spline neural network is an efficient tool to implement the adaptive control voltage and power system stabilizer ...

Performance evaluation of multi machine power system with Fuzzy based Power System Stabilizer
2015 International Conference on Technological Advancements in Power and Energy (TAP Energy), 2015Power system operates under secure state. Any disturbance in terms of fault or major load change introduces oscillations in the power system. These oscillations cause stability problems, if not damped in short span of time. In a multi machine power system the rotor swing between generators makes the problem more complicated.

Linearizing control of shipboard multi-machine MVDC power systems feeding Constant Power Loads
2012 IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE), 2012Voltage stability in Medium-Voltage DC (MVDC) power systems on ships is a key design goal. MVDC bus voltage stability can be impaired due to the presence of high-bandwidth controlled Constant Power Load (CPL) converters, which can induce negative incremental resistance instabilities. A linearization via state-feedback control is presented in this paper,

Stability of Multi-Machine Power Systems with Nontrivial Transfer Conductances
SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 1980The local stability of second order vector differential equations with linear damping is examined by linearization. It is shown that without damping such systems are stable only if the eigenvalues of a certain matrix are real and nonpositive. Sufficient conditions for the asymptotic stability of the damped system are developed.

Modelling static phase shifters in multi-machine power systems
APSCOM-97. International Conference on Advances in Power System Control, Operation and Management, 1997Static phase shifters (SPSs) are new FACTS devices. They can offer both static and dynamic controls of power flows in power systems. This paper reports the build-up of an SPS mathematical model that can be applied to the transient stability analysis of a multimachine system.
